Chips

We do not get to choose which pets we accept, so we are often at capacity. We make every effort to locate owners of the lost or stray pets we receive, scanning each pet for a microchip and tracing even outdated rabies tags and city licenses. Unclaimed pets that become our property are evaluated for adoption and placed as quickly as possible. We are grateful to the many volunteer pet placement agencies who work with us to help place our homeless pets in responsible homes.
SBACC also provides animal control services to South Bend city residents, enforcing animal care ordinances and responding around the clock to animal related emergencies.
SBACC is located at 105 S. Olive St., between Western Avenue and Washington Street.
SBACC is a non-profit, municipal organization, operating as a division of the Department of Code Enforcement, City of South Bend, Indiana. Donations to SBACC are tax deductible and go directly towards the care of South Bend's homeless animals. Monetary donations are always appreciated, and help provide veterinary care for animals who might otherwise be unadoptable.
Our greatest wish is for every animal to be loved and properly cared for. Sadly, we often get pets who aren't at their best in a shelter environment, or have need of one-on-one human contact on a temporary basis. Approved foster homes for cats and dogs of all ages are always in short supply.
