My family has taken such wonderful care of me, but, sadly, is not able to keep me. I am looking for a new family to love. I love to play and get along well with cats and other dogs. I am potty trained and even know some basic commands like shake and lay down. I was born with a condition that makes my liver function incorrectly, but with my medicine and special diet, I am happy and lead a normal life. ** Membership meeting Tuesday, May 19th at 6:00 p.m. at the Ark Paws-n-Claws Bookstore. All are welcome. There are no membership fees. Come and join us to see what Ark is up to!

** Our Hog Roast and Bake Sale was a great success! Thanks to everyone who came out and supported us.

** Ark will be holding a garage sale in the barn behind the bookstore on Friday, May 22nd and Saturday, May 23rd. If you have anything you would like to donate, please contact Marge Malone at 260-562-3655.

** Recycle your ink cartridges and help save the lives of our many four legged friends! Bring your old, empty cartridges and drop them in our collection box at the bookstore today.

Donations

As a non-profit organization, Ark relies heavily on donations from folks like you to continue the work that we do. Without your help, we would not be able to pay the medical bills for those animals who come to us sick or injured, pay for the food provided to our foster families, or even to pay the electric bill. We need your help! If you would like to make a donation to help us continue our mission, please send it to: Ark Animal Rescue & Adoption, Inc., P.O. Box 95, Howe, IN 46746 or stop by our bookstore to drop it off. Remember, your donation is tax deductible so be sure to include your name and address for us to send the receipt. If you wish to remain anonymous, that is o.k., too.

Ark's Paws-n-Claws Bookstore

Come visit our bookstore located on the square at 309 Defiance Street in Howe, Indiana (right on State Road 120). All books, new or used, are donated to us for resale. You pick the price, all we ask is a donation for the books you choose. All bibles are free. Come check us out! Our hours may vary.

Ark Animal Rescue & Adoption, Inc. is a small, non-profit organization in LaGrange County, Indiana. We currently work with the LaGrange County Animal Shelter. The shelter is very small and insufficient for the needs of our community. Ark helps coordinate most adoptions and rescues from the shelter. We provide placement of animals in their forever homes, with foster families, and reputable rescues throughout the country. We provide medical care for many of the shelter animals. We also help with transportation to and from the rescues when needed.

Adopting a friend

It is very easy to adopt a rescued pet and they are always grateful that you have saved their lives. An adoption application and contract must be filled out and signed and references will be checked. We also reserve the right to perform a home visit to complete the adoption process. Ark's adoption fee for dogs is $100.00. There is an additional $10.00 fee if the animal has been given a rabies vaccination and a $10 fee if the animal has been heartworm tested. There is also a $30.00 microchip fee payable to the County for all animals leaving the shelter. This service is performed at the LaGrange County Animal Shelter prior to the animal going home. The adoption fee for cats is $25.00 or $50 if they have required medical services.

Ark requires all animals to be spayed or neutered and verification of such will be required within a given time frame. If the adopter can provide paperwork showing they had the animal spayed or neutered in the allotted time, a $50.00 refund will be given.

If you live outside of LaGrange County, that is ok! We have adopted to many families in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, and many others. As long as you are willing to make the trip to pick up the animal being adopted, you are eligible to apply. At this time, however, we cannot provide or arrange transportation for adoptions.

We are VERY rescue friendly, we charge no pull fee and help provide transportation.

Become a Foster Parent

We are always looking for more foster families. Would you like to become a foster parent? It's easy! We will match a pet with your home life and you care for the pet just as if they are your own until their "Forever Home" is found. Ark will help support the pet with food and necessary veterinary services. You would, in turn, love the pet and help it to become a good family member to prepare it for adoption. All animals in the foster program are posted on the internet so prospective families can meet them. If you are interested in becoming a foster parent, please contact Kristi Miller at 260-415-7276.

Volunteers

Ark is entirely volunteer run. We depend on our volunteers for everything from transportation to running the bookstore. If you are interested in volunteering some of your time to help Ark, please let us know. Volunteer applications are available in the bookstore and a background check will be run on all applicants.
