Who We Are...
We are a small group of volunteers in Southwestern Indiana that works with Posey County Animal Control and the City of Mt. Vernon Animal Control to find homes for dogs after their 10-day holding period is over. Dogs are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm tested before going to a new home. If a dog tests positive for heartworm, we treat the dog and then retest to confirm that the treatment was successful.

Adopting a New Friend...
Please have a look at our available pups and if you see one you are interested in, contact us to set an appointment.
Each dog receives a Bordetella, DHPPC vaccination and worming when they come into the shelter. At the veterinarian's office, our dogs receive a rabies vaccination, a spay or neuter surgery, and are tested for heartworm. Additionally, our dogs are microchipped before going home with their new family.
We require the completion of an adoption application and you can access it here: Adoption Application
Our shelter would not be where it is today without the help we receive from our dear friend, professional trainer Bobbi Jo Bottomley, owner of Tri-State K9 University. She is our answer to the Dog Whisperer and countless dogs owe her their lives! She offers her services to us free of charge and so many dogs who have passed through our shelter have benefited from her love and commitment through temperament testing, obedience classes, and rehabilitation. Bobbi Jo not only helps the dog understand what is expected of them, she teaches the owner how to communicate with their dog, so that long after class is over, her influence lingers, helping to ensure a long and happy life for the family and their pet.
We offer our sincere gratitude to Bobbi Jo and are very thankful she came into our lives.
Almost every behavior issue is fixable, if the owner is willing to give the dog a chance. Sometimes there is a very simple solution; sometimes it is more complex. Tri-State K9 University offers many services to fit your needs. Please check out their website for more information. You will not be sorry!
