Who We Are
The Humane Society of Noble County is a small shelter on the Southeast side of Kendallville, Indiania. We are capable of housing dogs, cats, kittens and puppies. There are four Kennel Assistants and one Shelter Manager working at the shelter. Our animals are kept very clean, dry and fed. We love on them daily and give them the best possible TLC possible. On a daily bases they are let out of the kennels to run and roam free in the fenced in back yard (supervised of course). Our staff works very hard at maintaining the upmost standards for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment and happy pets.
Adopting a friend
The adoption process has a few steps. We are able to adopt to anyone in any state just as long as you meet our guidelines. If you rent your place of residency you must provide us with the following:
1. A copy of rental agreement with pet deposit paid.
2. Allow us to call your landlord for verbal permission
If you have any other animals in the home , we will verify prior to adoption that all shots are up to date. This can be done by either bringing in a copy of all shot records or we can call the vet and ask for the current status on all your animals.
After that we have you pick an animal that you are interested in. We then take you back into an inclosed room to let you spend one on one time with the animal. If the animal reacts well with you and you react well with the animal we proceed to the next step. If the animal is available for adoption that day you may fill out the application and everything is approved you may take the animal home the same day. If the animal has a future adoption date, the application may be filled out to place a hold on that animal untill the adoption date. If you fancy an animal but need more time to think about it, filling out an application will hold the animal for 24 hours. If you decide not to adopt the animal, simply call us and tell us and we'll remove the application. However, if we do not hear back from you within the 24 hours then animal will become available for adoption again.
Adoption fees are as follows:
Application Fee No Charge
Dogs/Puppies $40.00 (includes microchip)
Cats/Kittens $35.00 (includes microchip)
The first two weeks after your adoption is a trial period. If you or the animal are not happy, feel free to bring it back for a full refund.Returning the animal after 14 days you will not receive a refund and it will be a $15 fee.
When the animal leaves here they will have at least their first set of shots, dewormed and flea/tick prevention, microchipped, but they will not have their rabies. The rabies vaccine must be done by a vet within the first week of adoption. If a vet cannot get you in for an appointment by then, simply call us and we will work with you on setting a new date.
If the dog is over 1 year a heartworm test will be taken prior to leaving the facility.
By signing the adoption contract you must agree to have the animal spayed or neutered within 30 days of adoption or before the age of 6 months. Some vets may give you a discount on altering of adopted pet.
We do go through many steps and require a lot be done for our animals but we make sure that our animals go to the best possible homes. Many of their lives have already beedn filled with sadness, abuse, neglect and abandonment. We want to make sure the rest of their lives are spent in pure happiness and love. They are all apart of our families and are in a sense our children. We care for them day in and day out with lots of love. We just want what's best for them.
