Greene County Humane Society

Our Adoptable Pet List

We are located in Linton, Indiana

Our goals are to provide education about responsible pet ownership to our community, to ensure humane care of our shelter animals and to promote spaying & neutering as a solution to the pet overpopulation crisis in our community. We work to increase adoptions & rescues of our shelter animals. We are rescue friendly and urge legitimate rescues to contact us about helping our animals. We are also always looking for good foster homes, so if you would like to help an animal by fostering please let us know.

Please do not breed or buy while shelter animals die!

Donate a BedWe have chosen Kuranda dog beds for our boarding facilities because they are so good for our dogs. We still don't have enough for all of our kennels. If you would like to donate a bed so another dog can sleep in proper comfort, please click here.

Spay or Neuter your Pet !

Why Spay or Neuter? It benefits you, your pet & your community:

- Spay/Neuter makes your pet a better companion by reducing the urge to spray or mark, the desire to roam, run away or get into fights( unsterilized pets often exhibit more behavior & temperament problems). It can also eliminate or reduce the threat of serious health problems that are expensive to treat such as breast and testicular cancers. - Communities spend millions of dollars to control unwanted animals. Money that could be spent on education or health care is spent on animal shelters that are overburdened with surplus animals. -An estimated 4-5 million animals are euthanized in shelters each year . This is an unnecessary tragedy that can be eliminated!

- Contact the Greene County Humane Society for your spay/neuter voucher today or if you do not live in Greene County contact Spay/Neuter Services of Indiana, Inc at: www.spayneuterservices.org for listings of participating vet clinics in IN.

~ The life of a chained dog is one of deprivation and loneliness. Dogs are pack animals. They are genetically wired to eat, sleep, hunt, and play in a pack. In the absence of other dogs, a dog's human family becomes his pack. It is cruel to keep a highly social animal isolated in the backyard with no interaction or socialization.

.

We ask you to consider all the costs and responsiblities of pet ownership fully before adopting. .

The Humane Society will do all we can to keep the animals as healthy as possible while they are in our shelter. We can not control what the animals were exposed to before they were admitted to our shelter. WE CAN NOT GUARANTEE THAT THIS ANIMAL IS IN PERFECT HEALTH , therefore we recommend that you take your new pet to a licensed veterinarian within 72 hrs of adoption for examination.
