Who We Are
Humane Society Northwest Indiana is a Not for Profit Humane Society located in Gary's Miller Beach neighborhood. We are a small facility that has been called the Cleanest and Friendliest Shelter that our visitors have seen! Our animals stay with us as long as they remain healthy and adoptable, but we really want our furry "guests" to find homes quickly... but we do request an application from our potential adopters.
HOURS: We are open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 11AM to 3PM, Friday 11AM - 4PM and Saturday we are open from 11AM to 5PM. We are closed on Thursdays and Sundays. Please come and visit or call! We are not for profit and do rely on donations and grants for our day to day operation... so of course every donation and successful adoption are very much appreciated!
Adopting a friend
We will ask all of our potential pet parents to fill our our adoption application. Our policies help us to find only the very best homes for our Furfriends!
Our adoption prices are:
Dogs $95 and up; please call for exact price quote
Puppies $95 and up; please call for exact price quote
Cats $85 and up; please call for exact price quote
Kittens $85 and up; please call for exact price quote
These prices include ID tag, spay or neuter, deworming, basic health check heartworm test for dogs 6 months and older.
We accept cash and credit cards

From Ripley St. (Rt 51), turn left, or West onto US 20 - continue past one stop light and you'll see our sign on the right (North) side of US 20. From I-65 Northbound, exit onto US 20, turn right and follow US 20 past Lake St. You'll see our sign on the left (North) side of US 20. We're now very easy to find!
