What is P.A.A.W.S. ?
P.A.A.W.S. "Proving Animals Are Worth Saving" is a local non-profit (501) (c3); no-kill animal rescue organization staffed by volunteers. We are a grass-roots organization that has been providing a safety net for homeless and injured animals in our community since 1999. To date we have found homes for over 2,000 animals.
Where is P.A.A.W.S. ?
P.A.A.W.S. is incorporated in Southern Indiana. Our private foster homes are located in Evansville and Newburgh Indiana.
P.A.A.W.S. Mission Statement
We are an organization dedicated to health and welfare of all animals. We are committed to educating the public on the proper care of animals and to show that no-kill animal control practices are possible as an alternative to traditional animal shelter practices.
To allow homeless animals into our foster care system regardless of age, breed, or ease of placement. To offer rescue services to injured animals. To pursue all reasonable options to avoid euthanasia. To help reduce animal overpopulation by requiring all animals under our care to undergo the spay /neuter process. To educate the public on the overpopulation of domestic animals, no-kill options, and pet owner responsibilities.
Adoption fees are $85-$100 for dogs. Small breeds, Puppies and Purebred adoption fees may be higher $125-$200. Please see individual animal bios for adoption fees, $75 for cats/kittens, Purebred cat/kitten adoption fees may be higher.
This fee covers the charge of spaying or neutering the animal, vaccinations, testing cats for FELV/FIV or dogs for heartworm. A spay/neuter certificate for puppies and kittens under the age of 3 months will be provided to you upon signing your adoption contract. This certificate can be redeemed with most veterinarians in the tri-state area with no added cost to you. See our main website for a list of those veterinarians.
All animals are current on their vaccinations at time of adoption. All cats or kittens over 8 weeks of age are tested for FELV/FIV. In the case of a mother cat and her kittens, usually the mother cat will just be tested. Dogs over 6 months of age are tested for heartworms.
P.A.A.W.S. uses a foster care network to care for animals until they are adopted. ALL ANIMALS ARE IN PRIVATE FOSTER HOMES. We attempt to socialize and train the animals to become good pets. We are a safety net for the injured, abandoned, and unwanted animals in the tri-state area.
We are in desperate need of responsible foster families to foster dogs and puppies. We can only take in as many animals as we can foster. There are so many abused and neglected animals out there and we need to save as many as we can. If you feel you have enough love and enough room for just one foster, that is one more life we can save. We work on donations only and need a lot of help from our community.
If you feel you cannot foster, but would like to help, we are in need of many items.
If you would like to donate any of the following items, please call 812-490-1039.
Cash/Gift Cards (your donation is tax-deductible)
Kitten Formula (KMR)
Blankets/Baby Blankets/Dog and Cat beds
