Who We Are

Thanks for visiting the White River Humane Society. We began helping the animals of Lawrence County in 1975. The WRHS does more than just house animals. We have established a proactive stance in our community to further the humane treatment of animals and educate the generations on animal kindness. We provide many smiles through adoptions and visits to health care facilities and classrooms. We also participate in a constant effort to provide low cost spay and neutering through the Pets Alive Clinic in Bloomington and the SNAP Low Income program. The WRHS has come a long way in 30 years, but our mission is not complete....We still have a long way to go. Our modern facility is located on Pumphouse Road only 1/2 a mile from Ind. 37. We invite you to join us at our facility, to visit and play with our animals. Our animals need lots of Tender Loving Care and someone to LOVE them.

Adopting a friend

To adopt an animal from the WRHS all you have to do is provide a loving home and promise to have the animal spayed or neutered. We do make home visits and check with vets to see the animal has been altered. The adoption fee for a cat is $75. The adoption fee includes the pet being spayed/neutered, rabies shot, vaccinations, de-wormed, and FIV/FeLv tested. The adoption fee for a dog is $75. The adoption fee includes the pet being spayed/neutered, rabies shot, vaccinations, de-wormed, and heartworm tested.
