Our Mission

Established in 2016, Muncie Animal Care and Services (MACS) is a proud No-Kill animal shelter and animal control department of the City of Muncie, Indiana. MACS provides animal control services to the City of Muncie and Unincorporated Delaware County, and an adoption program for all. Our mission is to provide proper care and find happy homes for stray, abandoned and abused animals in our community. We seek to provide awareness of local laws concerning animals and animal welfare, provide connections to resources, and to reduce the number of stray and abused animals.

Adoption Policy

All MACS animals are spayed/neutered, heartworm/combo tested, given age appropriate vaccines, dewormed and given flea preventative prior to adoption. Adoption comes with a free wellness exam at a participating veterinarian.

Potential adopters must provide a copy of their pet policy in their lease and submit an adoption application. Applications can be obtained in person during business hours. There is no online application. Please note, applications can take up to 3 business days to be reviewed. Applicants will be notified via email of approval or disapproval. Please check your email if you have submitted an application.

Approved applicants that currently have a dog(s) in their home are required to schedule a meet-and-greet appointment to ensure the potential adoption will be a good fit.

Regular adoption fees are: Dogs $100, Cats $65.
MACS offers many adoption specials and events. Please call or visit our Facebook page for current specials!
[MACS can only accept cash or check payment.]

Adopters should plan to bring a leash and collar, or pet carrier.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, at times we may have to limit or suspend adoption and/or volunteering services. Please call before coming if being turned away at our door would pose an inconvenience, 765-747-4851.
