Who We Are

The Humane Society for Hamilton County is a receiving facility and shelter for the lost, homeless, relinquished or neglected companion animals. (We receive animals relinquished by their owners, and those picked up by Animal Control as "strays".) We provide adoption programs to find ALL of these deserving animals new homes, and we also provide education programs for the community.

Adopting a Friend for Life

The Humane Society for Hamilton County wants to see our animals go to loving, permanent homes. Our staff is here to answer as many questions as they can to help match your family up with a pet that will be suited to your lifestyle. We do all we can to find the animals homes, but we also want them to be permanent, so that the pets AND the new families are all happy! We always try to remind people that adopting a pet is a big decision that should be made by the entire family. Remember, pets are not disposable, they are a "LIFETIME COMMITMENT".

Adoption Information

Our adoption fees range from $45.00 to $250.00 depending on the age, size and breed of the animal. Included in fees are: First round vaccinations and worming; Heartworm test (dogs); Feline Leukemia/FIV test (cats); Free basic exam at participating vets; Spay/Neuter; Microchip with National registration; "Revolution" application. Please note...we do not generally put young puppies or kittens on this website, because they are usually adopted so quickly, it would be very difficult to keep that part of the list current! Please call to ask about young puppies or kittens if that is what you are interested in adopting.

Volunteering

Volunteering includes socializing with the animals, walking dogs, grooming, office work, etc. The more attention the animals are given, the happier they are, and the better thier appearance. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and must go through a volunteer orientation and then specific training. We also need foster homes for animals that are recovering from an illness or injury, or for litters of puppies or kittens while they are nursing until they are old enough to come back to the shelter to be put up for adoption. Please stop by to pick up an application, or you can submit one online at www.hamiltonhumane.com (Please specify which type - animal socializing or foster care or both!)

Our Wish List

We rely on donations to help us care for the animals in our care. In addition to monetary contributions, please visit our website www.hamiltonhumane.com and click on our Wish List for a complete list of needed items.
