UPDATE: We have built a beautiful new facility! Thank you for all the donations made to make that possible!!!

Our facility burned on Nov. 19th. Over 50 of our beautiful cats & dogs died in this fire. The facility was completely destroyed. If you would like to make a Donation please make check out to Franklin County Animal Control-Fund 53 & mail to Franklin County Animal Control-P.O. Box 967-Benton, Il 62812.Currently our cats & small dogs are housed in a small building (about the size of a 1 car garage) behind the burned out facility. Our larger dogs our in kennels brought out of the burned building. They are outside with no heat & pieces of metal from the old building as a roof. We do have donated dog houses for them, but are in a great need of contributions to rebuild our shelter Our hours are 7am-3pm M-F. Animals can be seen by appointment during off hours. If you need information after hours you may leave a message at the facility by calling 618-439-9197. We are NOT a no-kill shelter, but we work very hard with no-kill shelters in northen IL & elsewhere to get our animals to safety. Our animals have a limited time.

Who We Are

Franklin County Animal Control works along with area law enforcement and volunteers in rescuing and caring for unwanted animals. We try to help educate the public on spaying/neutering and proper care of their pets. We rescue pets, seek veterinarian care for them, and provide adoption counseling to the prospective homes. We are putting forth every effort possible to end animal abuse and neglect and are in the process of updating the current laws set forth to prosecute people found guilty of abuse and neglect.

Adopting a friend

When e-mailing about one of the animals please provide us with some information about yourself. Our pets come from people who have abandoned them, who can no longer care for them, or sometimes abused/neglected situations. In placing the pet we want to make sure that they will not be treated in such a manner ever again.
