How You Can Help     Fostering For Feral Fixers    You Have Feral Cats (or you know someone who does)...

Who We Are

Feral Fixers is an all volunteer organization dedicated to practicing & promoting Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) in DuPage County, Illinois. We believe that TNR is the only effective, humane & long-term solution to the problem of cat overpopulation.
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is a full management plan in which stray and feral cats already living outdoors in cities, towns, and rural areas are humanely trapped, then evaluated, vaccinated, and sterilized by veterinarians. Kittens and tame cats are adopted into good homes when homes are available & through no-kill shelters. Healthy adult cats unsocialized to humans are returned to their familiar habitat under the lifelong care of volunteers who act as their caretakers.
Feral Fixers offers its TNR services to all colony caretakers, without charge. While we ask for donations from colony caretakers, we recognize that for some of them, any additional cost is just too much. Therefore we rely on donations from other individuals to make up the difference and allow us to continue our work. These donations allow us to spay/neuter additional cats, keep a 'bank' of traps and trap dividers we loan out for free, hold workshops and provide other educational benefits.
Our Long-term goal: To reduce both the number of cats euthanized and the feral cat population in DuPage County while improving the quality of life for both cats and humans through the high-volume use of low-cost or free spay-neuter services to sterilize feral, semi-feral, stray and domestic cats.

The great majority of these cats have been brought to the PAWS-Chicago Spay/Neuter clinic to be processed. In addition to being spay/neutered, the cats are microchipped, given rabies and distemper vaccines, de-wormed, treated for fleas and ticks, their ears are cleaned and treated for ear mites and they are eartipped to mark them as 'fixed' ferals.
