Who We Are

Project Hope is no-kill, non-profit 501(c)(3) Animal Rescue Organization.
We provide a no-kill solution for unwanted, homeless animals in the Southern Illinois/western Kentucky area. We also strive to provide a high quality of life for the dogs and cats in our care by utilizing large cages and enclosures, exercise and play, as well as good nutrition and vet care. For the dogs, we have almost a half acre fenced in for them to run and play in three times daily. The cats have large enclosures, where they can climb, play or just hang out and cat nap on different levels. All animals are spayed and neutered, and kept up to date on vaccines and heartworm prevention (for dogs).

How You Can Help

We welcome volunteers, young or old! The animals sheltered at Project Hope need your loving touch and someone to play with them. Volunteers are also needed to walk the dogs, clean, feed, mow, do laundry, answer the phone, and write thank-you letters. Volunteers also assist with transporting animals to and from the veterinarian. Volunteers are always needed to participate with fundraising and working on our newsletters. Please call the shelter or email info@projecthopeanimalshelter.com for details on how to become a volunteer. Won't you consider sharing a little of your time with them?

We also welcome those interested in providing foster homes for the animals. Do you have what it takes to be a foster parent, or have you ever thought of fostering a dog or cat? The shelter has many animals that are eligible for fostering. Fostering can help reduce stress while providing needed training for the pets.

Please call the shelter during business hours or email us at info@projecthopeanimalshelter.com if you would like to volunteer or become a foster pet parent.

GIFTS OF PURPOSE
Need a gift for a friend, co-worker, family member or special person, consider giving a Gift of Purpose. In return for your donation of at least $25 to Project Hope, we will wrap up a picture of a dog or cat now at the shelter and enclose a letter with the story of how they came to be at the shelter. We will deliver a neatly wrapped gift to the person you designate, and explain that a donation made in their honor helped provide care for this and other animals at Project Hope. These are available for any occasion including birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, retirement, in memory of or just because.

If you live in the Metropolis area, be sure and stop by Friends & Company Antiques on North Ave. in Metropolis between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. (Tues-Sat). The shop offers a booth with all kinds of neat stuff in which proceeds go to help Project Hope. Do you have items to sell? You can donate items to sell in the booth at Friends & Company Antiques with proceeds going to benefit Project Hope. Donated items do not have to be antiques. They can be anything that would sell at a yard sale.

We also collect aluminum cans for recycling reimbursement. Cans may be dropped off at the shelter anytime in the barrels located in front of the building.

Become A Project Hope Angel

If you are unable to adopt or foster a pet, then maybe a Project Hope Angel sponsorship is the best way for you to help. Sponsoring a shelter pet is easy. Being a Project Hope Angel means you are making a monthly donation to help cover the needs of the shelter pet of your choice. Many of these residents have been with us for many years.

Our Special Needs residents greatly benefit from sponsorship as they require additional medications and special care. A simple monthly donation of $20 will go a long way to provide food, care and routine healthcare for our dogs and cats. If you would like to become a Project Hope Angel, please contact Beth Beane or email the shelter at info@projecthopeanimalshelter.com
