We are the Illinois chapter of our Missouri based 501c3 We Luv Paws Chinese Shar Pei Rescue. Our foster homes are located in Chicago and the Northern and Western suburbs of Illinois. We are dedicated to saving sharpei and sharpei mixes from kill shelters in Illinois and surrounding states and rehoming them within a 3 hour drive from the Chicago area. Because we are all volunteers with our own dogs and families, unfortunately we can't travel further than this and we never ship our dogs.
Adopting a friend
If you are interested in any of our dogs, please email weluvpawsilrescue@yahoo.com for an application and/or to answer your initial questions. You will get a response from us via email within an hour or two. It's a lot faster for us to first respond by email since our phone use is very limited during the day. All of our dogs are in foster homes, so after we receive your completed application, the specific foster family will contact you. Adoptions require a completed application, a veterinary reference, possible specific requirements for each dog and a home visit. Because we are an all volunteer rescue group, we must limit our home visits/adoptions to a 3 hour drive from the Chicago area.
Our adoption fees are based on each dog's incurred medical expenses, age, etc. and can be up to $300. We are a small rescue and depend solely on adoption fees to help cover our medical expenses and daily costs of feeding, etc. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm check, DHLPP(parvo,distemper,corona) and Bordatella vaccinations, Rabies vaccination (if dog is over 4 months old), deworming and microchipping.

We have foster homes in Chicago and Northern/Western suburbs of Illinois for all our dogs, not a physical shelter. Appointments are made between potential adopter and the foster family to meet the dog(s).
