All of our pets that get adopted have their current vaccinations/wormings and are microchipped , spayed/neutered for your peace of mind and your new pets safety. They also receive a collar, tag and leash.Who We Are
Our shelter is an animal control facility operated by the City of Collinsville Police Department. Animals recieved at the shelter mostly consist of stray, unclaimed dogs and cats, but we also accept owner relinquished pets from city residents. Neglected, abused and abandoned animals also share space at the shelter. Although we are an animal control facility, we attempt to place as many dogs and cats into caring and loving homes as possible, but unfortunately, this is not always possible given the size of our shelter and the number of animals we recieve every month.
Since we are a city government operated shelter, we recieve tax dollars to fund our basic operations, therefore, we do not have to rely on fundraisers to operate the way most humane societies have to. This also assists in holding down our adoption fees.
.A not for profit organization, Friends of Collinsville Animal Shelter (FOCAS), assists the shelter with additional expenses that are not accounted for in the city budget, such as excess medical costs for a pet, and other special requests, education, etc.Membership affiliations include the American Humane Association, the Humane Society of the United States, ASPCA, National Animal Control Association and the Illinois Animal Control Association.
