Broad Shoulders Animal Rescue is a companion animal rescue group comprised of vegans located in the Chicagoland area. Our primary objective is rescuing and rehoming abandoned and stray companion animals. Additionally, we are part of the trap-neuter-return movement to advance a no-kill culture. We strive to be environmentally friendly and as vegan as possible, with the exception of animals that are obligate carnivores. Through a network of volunteers and advocates, we are striving to make Chicago a place where every companion animal has a loving, safe and appropriate home.
To inquire about our animals, please email email@example.com. Our adoption process is as follows (it may seem like a long process, but it's pretty quick and painless. :) We just want to make sure the homes our animals end up in are forever homes)
1. Application (Questionnaire)
We'll email it to you once you have contacted us for information.
2. Introductions / Meet & Greet
If our adoption counselors approve your application, they will contact you about visiting the foster home of the animal(s) you’re interested in. If you decide not to adopt at that time, we can keep your application on file if you want to adopt someone else later.
3. Home Check
An adoption counselor will visit your home and ask you some questions and answer your concerns.
Adopters sign a contract for each animal they adopt, co-signed by a BSAR representative. You will also get a copy of all available medical records for the animal(s) you adopt. This is also the point where all adoption fees are due.
Adopter must arrange to pick up the adopted animal(s) from their foster home unless otherwise arranged.
A BSAR representative will arrange for a visit to the adopter’s home or at least call to check on the status of your adoption. We’ll see how things are going, discuss any concerns you may have at this point, and we may call you every once in a while afterwards just to check in.
If at any time, it is not working out with you and your pet, you must return it to BSAR. This ensures our animals never end up at a kill shelter or in a bad situation. Once a Broad Shoulders animal, always a Broad Shoulders animal!
