A New Year's Wish............

For every dog searching trash cans for breakfast, a full bowl with his name printed in bright letters.

For every dog who slept fitfully last night, chained in a frozen yard, a soft, warm bed with a person snoring gently nearby.

For every shelter dog, spending Christmas morning in a soiled run, a forever home, filled with sounds and smells of family.

For every "Christmas" puppy given, a tolerant, caring owner who won't abandon you as you grow into a real dog.

For every ailing pet, enough money for your owner to pay the bills to make you well.

For every lost dog, a clear, safe road, and well marked path, to lead you home.

For every old and tired friend, a warm fire, and a soft bed, to ease your aches and pains.

and.................

For every Heart Dog at the Bridge, a moment when you know that you are remembered, missed again, and loved forever.

A nice little note from on of our families: We will have had Rosie 1 year next month. I cannot tell you what a gift she has was for us. We love her so much that we cannot remember what it was like to just have one pug. She and Maggie are truly sisters. They are inseparable - although Maggie gets a bit frustrated with Rosie's puppy ways.

So the biggest achievements that we have had over the past 11 months with Rosie are this: We can now trim her toenails oursleves with the file (we couldn't touch her feet for about 5 months, we had to go to the vet for nail trims and then it would take 2 of them to hold her), she gives us kisses all the time (these were sporadic for a long time and given only when asked), she says "I love you", she now sleeps on my pillow as opposed to the foot of the bed by herself where she started off. :)

We tell her evey night before bed how happy we are that she finally found her way home to us. My mom still wants to kidnap her from us. We went by my grandma's this past weekend and she sneaked in the living room and hopped up on my grandma's chair and sat next to her ever so sweetly. I wish that I had had the camera!

I think that I'm getting Doug closer to adopting another pug! I will keep you posted on that.

M.O.P.S. would like to send a HUGE thank you to everyone that participated in the WI Pug meet up group's Christmas Party Dec 6th. It was a big hit and lots of fun!

Who We Are

WHO WE ARE: M.O.P.S. Pug Rescue & Adoption is a Non-Profit 501c3 Company who has a group of volunteers dedicated to the welfare of pure bred pug dogs. Established in 2009 and founded by ME, Linda Elwood. I have been working with rescued pugs for over 10 years. My previous experience has been with Great Lakes Pug Club and most recently with Pug Hugs Inc Rescue. Both of these entities taught me a great deal about rescuing, fostering, veterinarian needs and in general how to work together with other rescue groups. I’m still a member of The Great Lakes Pug Club and The Pug Dog Club of America both of which I am in good standings with.

M.O.P.S. works with Animal Shelters, Owner Relinquishments and Stray Pure Bred Pugs, fostering them until they are ready for their new homes. This provides an ideal situation for the rescued pugs as they are fostered in our own homes, their veterinarian care is taken care of, spay/neutered if needed and given up to date shots. Then after a strict screening process and a full review of applications we look to find these pugs their forever homes.

HOW WE GOT OUR NAME: Borrowed from the PDCA website: According to the Zoological Society of London, the Pug is one of the oldest breeds of dog, originating in China some 700 years B.C. Their presence was noted in Holland, Germany, England, Spain, and Russia as early as the 15th and 16th centuries where they were Mopshunden, Mops, Carlin, Carlini and in England, as Dutch Mastiffs or Pugs.

We are using the acronym of M.O.P.S. as: Making Our Pugs Safe OUR MISSION: M.O.P.S. mission is to provide assistance and care to pure bred pugs in need. Working together with other animal welfare agencies we can help these pugs receive the care they need which then helps them become suitable and adoptable animals. By proactively working with many groups, building bridges and networking together, it is our hope to not have any pug have to stay in a shelter like situation. HOW YOU CAN HELP: M.O.P.S. depends on the kindness of people like you to continue our mission by your support of funds and by donating items for auctions, garage sales and items to sell at our educational fairs that we attend. This helps us to raise money for the much needed care that these pugs need and deserve. We receive no government assistance. We are funded through generous donations only.

DONATIONS ARE ALWAYS ACCEPTED & APPRECIATED!
