Meet Sadie, she is a beautiful red female @ 1.4 yrs old. Sadie likes other dogs and so far loves my cats. She is crate trained and house broke. She lets you know it is time for her to go. She will also bark at you if she thinks you may want to play. She is medium energy level, loves to go for walks. She loves to sleep on the couch and/or bed. Sadie has great eye contact and wants to please. She loves people and has been great with all the kids she has meet. I just love her. Sadie is in Southern, IL and can be brought to Joliet for a meet and greet.
Being a lover of the ACD breed you can't look the other way and not help the dogs in need. Especially, the ones on death row in the local kill shelters. There are so many nice ACD's that are turned in because people can't afford to feed them, some owners don't want to take the time for them, some owners have lost their homes and/or farms and some dogs were just lost. There is absolutely nothing wrong with these dogs. They were supposed to be a commitment for life.
After the shelter dog has been approved by Sue Christianson to come into the rescue. All dogs are fully vetted which includes spayed/neutered, dewormed, vaccinated, heartworm tested (if positive they are treated for heartworms with immicide by vet), the rescue dogs are given HW preventative monthly and microchipped. While awaiting adoption, most of the cattle dogs live in foster homes or on my farm where we attempt to evaluate their temperaments and work on teaching them basic manners. We place cattle dogs into homes best suited for that individual dog.
