STAAR is a no kill, all volunteer, non-profit animal rescue and adoption agency founded in 2005 for the purpose of rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming stray and abandoned animals. We are currently working with mostly cats and kittens, but hope to eventually be able to rescue more dogs and puppies as well. We show our cats and kittens in the adoption center at PetSmart in Arlington Heights on the corner of Rand Rd and Arlington Heights Rd seven days a week. Store hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
We do not have a physical shelter, therefore we depend on volunteer foster homes to hold our animals in their homes until they are ready for adoption.
We have adoption applications at PetSmart or we will be happy to fax or e-mail one to you. Once we have our own website the applications will be available on line.
We are looking for permanent, responsible, loving homes for our animals. Before considering adoption please make sure you are ready to make a lifetime commitment to your adopted pet and that you have the time and financial resources to be able to properly care for a pet.
Our normal adoption fee for cats is $100.00 or 2 for $175.00. This includes spaying or neutering, first vaccinations, testing for feline leukemia and FIV, deworming, flea preventative and microchip ID. Adopters also receive a coupon for a free veterinarian exam. All cats must leave the store in a cat carrier.
