Who We Are
Douglas County Animal Control (DCAC) is the County Animal Shelter and Animal Law Enforcement Branch of Douglas County, IL. As Douglas County has a population of less than 20,000 people, it has been difficult to get the funding required to help adoptable dogs that come through our facility. This is changing, but slowly. I hope that as more people become aware of our small shelter and its adoptable animals, they will help by volunteering to foster, assess behavior and create a better environment for the dogs.
Adopting a friend
The adopton fee is $90 which includes a microchip ,proguard 8 vaccine, kennel cough vaccine and heartworm test. Cats are given feline 5 way vaccine, feline luekemia tested and heartworm tested. Our pets are dropped off at the vet of your choice upon adoption, spayed or neutered and rabies given. The only fee you are responsible for upon pick-up of your new pet is the rabies or any blood work if the pet is over 5.
Come Visit Us!
