Welcome to our site. We have dogs and cats that are looking for their forever homes. Please call us for more information about any of our animals.
Who We Are
Douglas County Animal Control (DCAC) is the County Animal Shelter and Animal Law Enforcement Branch of Douglas County, IL. As Douglas County has a population of less than 20,000 people, it has been difficult to get the funding required to help adoptable dogs that come through our facility. This is changing, but slowly. I hope that as more people become aware of our small shelter and its adoptable animals, they will help by volunteering to foster, assess behavior and create a better environment for the dogs.
Adopting a friend
The adoption fee is $90 which includes a microchip, Distemper combination vaccine, and heartworm test. Cats are given Feline Upper Respiratory combination vaccine and Feline Luekemia tested. If the dog or cat has not been neutered, the fee for surgery is $75. Your new pet is dropped off at a participating vet clinic, spayed or neutered and rabies given.
Come Visit Us!
Check out our new addition. We now have more space, a cleaner facility, and a caring staff. Volunteers during regular hours would be very helpful for walking the dogs and playing with the dogs and cats.
