Douglas County Animal Control
Our Featured Pet...
News
We have a new administrator, Dr. Kathleen McManamon, who along with the staff, hopes to bring a forever home to all the adoptable pets we receive. We also have new shelter caretakers who have worked hard to create a better environment for the dogs and visitors.
Who We Are
As of now, we will not be closing but these dogs still need homes. If you have an hour or two spare time, PLEASE volunteer to help socialize these dogs.
Douglas County Animal Control (DCAC) is the county animal shelter and animal law enforcement branch of Douglas County, IL. As Douglas County has a population of less than 20,000 people, it has been difficult to get the funding required to help adoptable dogs that come through our facility. This is changing, albeit slowly. I hope that as more people become aware of our small shelter and its adoptable animals, they will help by volunteering to foster, assess behavior and create a better environment for the dogs.
Adopting a friend
The adopton fee is $65 which includes a microchip and DHLPP vaccination. A portion is refunded when you present proof of spay/neuter.
Come Visit Us!
Check out our new addition. We now have more space and that is so important when it comes to keeping down the euthanasia rate. Volunteers during regular hours would be very helpful for walking the dogs, assessing behavior, minor training, etc.
