FOSTER HOMES NEEDED!! Kitten and puppy season is in full swing, many pregnant or nursing mommies(or orphans) are in need of temporary foster homes. If you are interested, please email for an application.
The economy has devasted many families, as the loss of jobs and homes have increased, the number of animals that had homes has decreased. Here at Fresh Start we are doing all we can to help the victims of the economy, including trying to save as many pets as we can, providing temporary shelter until a forever home can be found. If you are looking for a new addition we just may have what you're looking for, or will soon be rescuing it, there are just not enough homes for every pet.

**** Paxton is about 10 months old and ready to play and run and really have a good time. Paxton is a wonderful addition for a family with energetic teens who want a playmate. Paxton is fully vetted and ready to join his forever home, he is still very much a puppy (what Husky mix isn't at this age?) and has responded well to training. Do you need a partner to jog with, or maybe you love to play fetch in your huge yard? Stop in and meet this handsome guy if he sounds what you are looking for, you may just find him to be a perfect fit!
It's been three years since we've opened and we've helped many animals so far. Our goal is to help even more this year! We are always in need of donations. On an average day we go through 10-14 rolls of paper towels, every donated roll helps! We thank everyone who has helped us and those who continue to help us.
Who We Are
We are a Illinois State Licensed, 501(c)3 Non-For-Profit, No-Kill Animal Rescue. We work rural high kill shelters and animal control facilities where animals do not have much of a chance to find a home.
Adopting a friend
The first step to our adoption process is the application. You can access the on-line application below by clicking on it, please email us if you are looking for the kitten/cat application and we will promptly email one. Just answer the questions and submit it back to us.
We will try to contact you within 2 days to go through the application and answer any additional questions you have regarding the animal you have inquired about.
We have very easy access from the I-90 tollway. Get off on Belvidere / Genoa road (going North) and go to the 4th stop/go light and make a left onto Logan Avenue. You will pass the gas station and the first driveway you come to make a left and we are straight back behind this small strip mall in a white "L" shaped building. Above you can use Mapquest to route the trip!
