How can you help?
As a small non-profit organization, all of our funding comes from pet adoptions, fundraisers, and generous donations from wonderful people like you who truly care about what we do for our animal friends. All donations are greatly appreciated.
If you would like to donate, or contribute other items, options can be found at the bottom of the page.
Fur Keeps Animal Rescue, Inc is licensed with the Illinois Department of Agriculture as a 501(c)(3) private, non-profit, no-kill shelter.
Since 1999, Fur Keeps has saved hundreds of animals (primarily horses, cats, and dogs) that have been rescued from kill shelters or other bad situations. These animals are rehabilitated and then placed into loving forever homes.
Our mission is to promote respect and compassion for all animals as partners in the human existence.
We believe in the Triangle of Care:
Rescuing a cat or dog costs an average of $250 in medical care alone; and that cost soars to over $2000 to rehabilitate a rescued horse. These costs do not include board and training. They simply cover the bare necessities to help these animals recover enough to find loving & caring homes, and adjust to their new environments.
With your help we can broaden our ability to help animals in need instead of solely relying on a few kind individuals.
Please consider helping us by sending a donation today or participating in any of our upcoming events. We're also in need of loving foster homes to place some of these animals in while they're waiting for their permanent homes. If you would like to foster an animal, volunteer, or become a forever home please contact us.
We're aware that in the recent past other charitable institutions have come under scrutiny due to allocation of funds. All contributions to Fur Keeps Animal Rescue go directly to animal care and operating costs. No person involved in this organization draws a salary or wage in any form.

Yup, my name is Madonna.
I'm 1 1/2 years old and I use my scratching post regularly. (After all it's important to maintain ones manicure!)
I was "tossed out" into the cold with my five babies, so I had to "land on my feet" in order to take care of myself and my kidsl As a result, I know what I want... and I want it when I want it!!!
I love:
Yes, life is all about "me". I'm gorgeous and I know it! Just imagine.....you could say you "live" with Madonna.....how much fun would that be?!

Now maybe not corgi, but what else??? We should run a contest for guesses for Pistol and his sister Puddles. The one thing I know is that whatever the mix they're smart, social, and just adorable!!!.

This little munchkin lives with the pack in my house. She and her brother are bouncy and fun 24/7.
Fur Keeps Animal Rescue provides the best medical care possible for all canines, felines and equine who come into our organization.
Each dog is examined by a licensed veterinarian; vaccinated for Distemper, Rabies, and Bordatella; Heartworm tested; micro-chipped; spayed/neutered; and temperament tested. Felines and equines are given similar attention. Additional medical attention such as surgery and dental work is provided as needed. Our animal friends are then either home-fostered or boarded at professional clinics while in our care.
All potential adopters must be at least 21 years of age, provide proof of identity, and complete our adoption screening process which includes:
Our adoption fee is $250 for dogs and $125 for cats which helps cover a portion of the animal's expenses while in our care.
Links to our adoptable pets are found at the top of the page. Once you find a pet that you're interested in, you can start the adoption process by simply filling out our online Adoption Application form. Once completed, just hit the "Submit by Email" button. An Adoption Counselor will follow-up with you as quickly as possible to further process your request and answer any questions you may have.
Fur Keeps Animal Rescue primarily adopts dogs into homes located in Northern Illinois, Southern Wisconsin, and Northwest Indiana regions. Post-adoption, we continue to provide follow-up support and guidance to adoptive families.
