"We Make Happy Tails!"
Our Featured Pet...
The story of Duke and Laddie sounds like it comes straight out of "The Incredible Journey"! It goes like this... Duke and Laddie have been best friends for 7 years. They are always together. Now, one of their elderly owners dies and the other one moves into a hospital. The person supposed to be caring for Duke and Laddie isn't. One day, Duke shows up at a rescuer's door. He is exhausted and his feet are torn up. A few days later, the rescuer gets a call from a neighbor down the road to come get pictures of a Sheltie that has been sleeping at her house for several days. So, on the way home from Duke's visit to the vet, the rescuer stops at the neighbor's house. The Sheltie (Laddie) is terrified of people. But, when he hears his old pal, Duke, bark, he perks right up. Laddie will NOT get into the car, but he does quite happily follow the truck with Duke in it to safety. Laddie had traveled quite a ways to find his pal Duke. Now, we need to give this story a happy ending. Duke and Laddie HAVE TO be placed together. They are both 7 - 8 years old, healthy, and will have all vet work done prior to adoption. Duke is very friendly and outgoing while Laddie is a little more shy and quiet. Can you give these two special boys a special home to live out their days in? We are certain they will be eternally grateful! Who We Are
"Pets Without Parents of Mason & Logan Counties" is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization located in Central Illinois. We are a foster based organization that takes in strays, abandoned, lost and abused cats, kittens, dogs and puppies and help to find them new homes. Our funding is strictly from donations and fund-raising. The pets in our care receive veterinary services, socialization, basic obedience training, and LOTS OF LOVE! It is our belief that these pets are a member of our family (if only for a short time) and so they will only be adopted to "parents" that will treat them as family members, too. Please join us and help make life better for unfortunate pets without parents!
Adopting a Friend
Adopting a friend from us is a relatively simple process. First, please contact our Adoptions Coordinator, Cheryl, to find out more about each of the listed pets and see if your home meets their needs. Then, a meeting is in order. Come on down to one of our foster homes and meet the potential dog or cat of your dreams. Finally, you will be required to fill out an Adoption Contract and make an adoption donation ($100 for dogs and $60 for cats). Then, hopefully, you're on your way with a great new addition to your family!
How You Can Help
Many people think that the only way to help a rescue group is to foster a pet. While that IS helpful and we always have more pets than fosters, there are many other things you can do. We need: fundraising volunteers, events volunteers, transporters, and pet care volunteers (people to help bathe and groom animals). We also need people to simply donate money-- all the volunteers in the world will not pay a vet bill. If you are interested in fostering or any of the other volunteer options listed above, please call Cheryl at (309)543-6099. Remember, your donations are needed to allow us to meet our goal of opening a low-kill shelter and your services are needed to help take care of the animals that are homeless in Logan and Mason Counties.
Come Visit Us!
We do not currently have a centralized location where all of our foster pets are located. Contact Cheryl at (309)543-6099 to find out where the pet you are interested in is being fostered.
