Theo came to us at the end of January after being spotted by a Fed Ex driver who took the time to contact the authorities when he saw that the dog was being physically neglected and was near death. Theo’s hero! Theo was in really bad shape. He was approx 20 lbs underweight and just a shell of a dog. He had been kept in an outside kennel with no handling and very little food or water. It wouldn't have been too much longer before he died. With lots of TLC and great care from our vets and staff, Theo has turned into a beautiful dog. He is about 3 years old. Since coming to HSMC and being nursed back to health he has also been treated for heartworms and then neutered. Theo is now in a foster home where he gets to run and experience freedom for perhaps the first time in his life. He also has a kennel of his own in the house that he just cannot wait to get to! He loves his own little spot in the family room! Theo is learning to be around other dogs, he does great on walks side by side with another dog. We do not know at this point if he will ever be able to play off lead with other dogs. Theo is going to start obedience training in a few weeks. Because he lacked proper care and training in his previous home, he needs work with his social skills and with men. Theo’s ideal home would be with a woman or a couple with no children. Theo has issues with being approached by men he does not know. (In his foster home he gets along fabulously with his foster dad.) He would make a woman living alone feel very secure in the home! Theo is a very special dog to everyone at HSMC who worked so hard to save his life. We believe he deserves a second chance at life! The first one dealt him a horrible life and he's come such a long way.
