VERMILION COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER AND DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL REGULATION
We are a county owned and operated organization, dedicated to helping the homeless or neglected pets in Vermilion County. We strive to keep the animals clean, healthy, and comfortable while in our care, however, the animals at this facility face humane euthanization every single day. Their time here is limited due to lack of space. Please spay/neuter your pets. We care deeply for these animals so adopt a shelter pet for your next companion. We can use any type of donations such as kitty litter, dog/cat food, dog/cat toys, blankets, towels, cleaning supplies, bleach, newspapers, pet taxies, and monetary donations. These donations should be dropped-off at the shelter. Thank you to everyone for supporting your local Vermilion County Animal Shelter.
NEWS Monetary donations are always needed to help the shelter animals. Vermilion County Animal Shelter donations should be mailed to Vermilion County Animal Shelter, 14775 Catlin/Tilton Road, Danville, IL. 61834. Donations to the foundation, please donate by clicking on the link below. Your donations will directly impact the life of a needy shelter animal. Thank you to everyone for supporting your Vermilion County Animal Shelter and Foundation. You are truly saving a life when adopting from us, which is all the more reason to come and visit.
Low-cost spay/neuter assistance is also available and encouraged to stop animal overpopulation. Please call the Vermilion County Animal Shelter Foundation for assistance at 217-431-0332.
What Do You Really Know About "Pitbulls"?
Pitbulls make extraordinary companions! The term "Pitbull" is NOT a breed; it is a catch all phrase to describe 3 distinct breeds of dogs: the American Pitbull Terrier, the American Staffordshire Terrier, and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Any way you slice it,Pitbulls are some of the most affectionate, loyal, and people loving pups on the block. With consistency, clarity, training, and leadership, you will never find a more constant companion than a Pitbull. Contrary to what the media would like you to believe, these dogs are far from "vicious" and they do not have specialized "locking jaws"- they are NOT alligators! Pitbulls are generally goofy dogs who are full of spunk, energy, and fun, fun, FUN! In fact, in a recent study by the American Temperament Test Society of 122 different breeds of dogs, Pitbulls achieved an average passing rate of 83.9%. That's better than Beagles (78.2%) and Golden Retrievers (83.2%). There are so many myths out there about Pitbulls that simply just aren't true. They are loving, loyal, and cuddly as teddy bears…come fall in love with a "bully" today!
