January 16, 2009 We mourn the death of one of our staunch long-time supporters, Lorraine Evans. She was a wonderful lady who will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered. She touched the lives of many dogs (and people) with her contributions to our organization. In her honor and memory, our newest addition - a sweet little puppy - has been named Rainey.
WINTER DOG FOOD DRIVE....Supporters and fellow dog lovers can simply stop by LincolnLand FS (on Commercial Street in Winchester) and pay for a bag - or more - of dog food and SCDR volunteers will pick it up. 50 pounds - $16.95 25 pounds - $9.85. Otherwise, how can you help??...we recycle aluminum cans for the Danny Wynn Memorial Spay and Neuter Program, recycle toner cartridges and cell phones, collect items for our annual rummage sale and are always in need of cash donations, old blankets/rugs/etc., and dry dog food.
Scott County Dog Rescue is a volunteer, non-profit 501 (c) organization developed to provide assistance to homeless dogs in Scott County, IL. Since our inception in August 2003, not one healthy stray dog has been euthanised in Scott County! Tax deductible donations can be sent to SCDR, c/o P. O. Box 22, Winchester, IL 62694. We are a foster-home network licensed by the Illinois Department of Agriculture and do not have an actual shelter. Arrangements to meet our available dogs need to be made with the foster home, and we are always in need of more foster families to provide temporary care for the homeless dogs. We are grateful to rescue-friendly Bourn Veterinary Services in Murrayville, Ghrist Veterinary Clinic in Pittsfield & Carrolton and Griggsville - Pittsfield Veterinary Clinic for discounting veterinary services for our rescue dogs. And of course - we thank those whose donations and support allow us to continue our mission. We wouldn't be here without the support of our adoptive families and community supporters!! Thank you, thank you, thank you...
