URGENT: Foster or Forever home needed!
Meet Lucky...this handsome boy is an 8 to 9 month old Pit Bull. Lucky is good with kids and other dogs. Lucky is very affectionate, he just loves kisses & hugs! He also loves to cuddle and sit on your lap...he adores attention! Lucky would make a wonderful addition to any home!
Please click on his picture below to see his bio page for more information.
UPDATE 5/5/08: Lucky had X-rays done at a different vet today. The hope is that this vet will be more affordable. Good news...he is!!! They do indeed need to do both sides but the price is a fraction of what the first vet quoted us. The super good news is that I told them to go ahead and start on the first leg tomorrow as we have almost all the money for that one and hopefully will before he goes home in a couple days. :) Thanks everyone for the well-wishes for this sweetheart.
UPDATE 5/6/08: I just talked to the vet and Lucky was coming out of anethesia and had done well in surgery. They will know more tomorrow on if he will go home then or the following day. He will have to be on very limited activity for 28 days...basically just going outside to potty and nothing more. I am thrilled that Lucky is on his way to being a normal puppy.
AFTERNOON UPDATE 5/6/08: The vet said that Lucky is doing VERY well after surgery and is releasing him to go home this afternoon!
UPDATE 5/8/08: Lucky is doing well. He is sad, of course but he is on his way to recovery! He can only go out long enough to potty and right back in his room.
UPDATE 5/20/08: Lucky went to get his sutures out today! The vet said he is doing well. He is starting to use his leg a little and is getting around really good. He still has to be leash walked when he goes out and still can't play with other dogs but pretty soon, he will be good as new!
UPDATE 6/19/08: Lucky went in to see the vet yesterday, 6/18/08. He's been in a lot of pain and the leg that has been operated on is bowed out.
His balance has been a bit messed up and he's been falling over. The vet said that there is deterioration of the muscle (atrophied) since he hasn't been putting a lot of weight on it and its pretty swollen.
The vet prescribed a 30 day supply of Deramaxx which is a pretty strong painkiller and anti-inflammatory drug.
He also said Lucky needs water therapy which is really expensive, but he needs it asap.
He's been in so much pain and the medicine we were giving him before wasn't helping too much.
He has to go back to the vet in 2-3 weeks to see if there is any progress. This is a big set back as we were hoping this wouldn't happen so he could get his second leg operated on the first week of July.
UPDATE 07/01/08: Lucky is now starting his therapy with water treadmill treatments. His first one was today and he needs to go twice a week. It costs us $55 everytime he goes and it is getting really expensive.
We will be posting pics or video of him in the water treadmill.
Thanks for all the help everyone has given us with Lucky.
Hopefully he can turn things around so he can have his second surgery. He was supposed to be having it this week (first week of July) but with the big set-back, it has been pushed back at least another two weeks if not more.
Won't you please help?
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
Lucky says... "Thank You"!
