FEBRUARY PET OF THE MONTH

Jack Frost

Jack Frost

Jack Frost is a wonderful orange boy with a quiet, loving personality! He is a trusting, gentle boy who loves to interact with people. He hasn't had much exposure to the other cats in the Adoption Center yet, but we hope to give him more time to interact with them. He is about 3 years old and was found as a stray. Jack Frost is neutered, up-to-date on shots, microchipped, and is a wonderful guy. Please stop by the MCAC Adoption Center to meet Jack Frost and his friends - they'd all appreciate some love and affection from visitors!

WE HAVE MANY WONDERFUL ANIMALS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! An $80.00 Adoption Fee includes Spay/Neutering, All Vaccinations, Heartworm Tested, Microchipped, Free 1st visit to vet, and cats are FELV & FIV tested. All Adopted Animals are provided with collar and tag at time of adoption.

If renting, please bring an official note from your Landlord on Letterhead stating approval for pets in your building.

We welcome donations of any items from our Wish List:
Heavy metal bowls with flat wide bottoms, Blankets, Newspapers, Nail Clippers, Shampoo for Dogs, Cat Toys, Dog Toys, Cat Beds, Cat Scratching Posts, Blankets for both Cats & Dogs, Leather Leashes, & Choke Collars.

How can you help us help the Animals?

Donate a BedPlease consider donating a comfy dog bed so that one of our canine residents can have a comfortable bed during its stay. The Kuranda dog beds are ideal as our dogs can sleep up off the cold and damp concrete floor. Without these beds, our dog visitors must sleep on an old blanket, right on the concrete floor. We still don't have enough for all of our kennels. You can help by donating a dog bed, so that another dog can sleep in comfort.
If you would like to donate a bed, please CLICK HERE.

Adopting a Friend

Pet ownership is a big responsibility and a long time commitment. All aspects of ownership should be considered before you look for a new pet. Do you have adequate space for the animal? Are you planning on moving in the future? If yes, what will you do with the pet? Does anyone in the household have allergies? How much time will you be able to spend with the pet? Will you be able to afford the pet? All cost must be considered: food, veterinary care, vaccinations, toys, grooming, bedding, housing, boarding (when you're on vacation).

Of course when you are considering a new pet, you must take into consideration the size the animal will be when it is full grown. The puppy that is 5 pounds when you take it home, may grow up to be 100 or more pounds. The Iguana that you take home when it is 6 inches long, can reach a length of 6 feet. Also consider the life expectancy of the pet - range 2-20 or more years. Do your research on types of animals and breeds before you get the new pet. Dogs will need considerable more time and expense than a goldfish.

Most animals in shelters are there because their previous owners did not consider all aspects of pet ownership. When you are ready to give a pet the commitment that it needs, then and only then should you look for the pet.

Adoption fee for cats - $80.00 Cats have been tested for FELV & FIV, given initial vaccinations including rabies, dewormed, microchipped, and are spayed/neutered. For every 2 months cats are with us, we lower the fee by $20.00 in hopes of finding our friends forever homes.
Adoption fee for dogs - $80.00 Dogs over 5 months of age have been checked for canine heartworm, given initial vaccinations including rabies, dewormed, microchipped and are spayed/neutered.

Potential adopters who reside outside of McHenry County are encouraged to submit an application and receive confirmation of adoption approval, prior to visiting the shelter. Authorities having jurisdiction over animal issues in the location where the potential adopter resides, will be contracted prior to the approval of the adoption. As agencies have varying hours of availability, we may not be able to contact that agency at the time the potential adopter is at our shelter, and therefore, we would be unable to approve the adoption. This may be critical for people who have driven long distances to see an animal at McHenry Country Animal Control. We therefore strongly encourage pre-approval by completing the application available at CLICK HERE. and then faxing it to McHenry County Animal Control at 815-334-4682.

All adopted animals are provided with collar and tag at time of adoption. Free physical exam at participating veterinary clinic, and free grooming from area groomers are provided.

ADOPTION HOURS:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 10:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Wednesday 10:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
