The Animal Services Auxiliary Fund was established with the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois to benefit homeless adoptable pets at the county shelter, which includes but is not limited to providing medical assistance or spaying and neutering. In the last year, we’ve spent over $13,000 making adoptable pets more adoptable by fixing broken legs, injured eyes, and frost-bitten ears, diagnosing food allergies, pulling bad teeth, spaying or neutering adult animals -- and that’s just a partial list. You can help the auxiliary by sending your donation to: WCAS Auxiliary

Winnebago County Animal Services has a year round spay/neuter program to assist pet owners of Winnebago County with little or no income. Pet owners must have their pets vaccinated for rabies and purchase a county. Bring State issued photo ID, proof of vaccinations, proof low-income (W2 form, Link card, seniors on social security) and $20 cash to Winnebago County Animal Services during business hours to receive the spay/neuter voucher. The surgery is done at the veterinary clinic of your choice.
We love having volunteers. If you are interested, please visit. www.wcasrock.org and download our volunteer application and information sheet. Volunteer Orientation is held every month at 6pm. All new volunteers are required to attend. Additional training such as mentoring or dog handling skills are held in separate sessions.
We are in need of foster homes for mostly puppies and kittens, go to our website at www.wcasrock.org to download a volunteer application!.
We are in need of volunteers interested in doing cat adoptions on weekends or weekdays at Petsmart and cleaning cages primarily during the week. Cage cleaning can be done anytime during 4pm to 8pm during the weekdays. Training is available.
Winnebago County Animal Services is a county facility that provides rabies control, response and enforcement, shelter care, pet adoptions, emergency care for strays, lost and found services, and spay/neuter assistance. Over 8,000 to 10,000 animals pass through our facility every year. Our dedication to provide around the clock service is made possible through revenue generated by pet license fees.
