Our Pet List

Thank you very much for your interest in one of our animals. To request more information about a particular animal or to request an adoption application, please contact us at the following e-mail address: kqc58@aol.com All inquiries and requests for adoptions applications must be submitted to our on-line volunteer via the e-mail address above. If you have already adopted a pet from us please keep in touch and let us know how you and your new pet are doing. Our adoption fees vary depending upon the animal due to various medical bills. For a healthy animal that has been spayed or neutered, our adoption fee is between $60.00-$80.00. Donations are always very much appreciated. As with any animal rescue and foster organization, we have more animals than we have funds to care for them.

History

The Centralia Humane Society has been operating since 1976. We currently house unwanted animals at licensed foster homes. We deal primarily with abandoned , neglected and abused animals. Most of them are often sick and injured. It takes all of our time, effort and funds to nurture them back to health and find homes for them.

Who We Are

The Centralia Humane Society is a no kill non-profit organization dedicated to animal protection and the prevention of cruelty and neglect. By virture of donations, fundrasiers, memorials and membership dues, our volunteer-based organization strives to re-home the needy animals in the Centralia, Illinois area. Last year, we found good homes for 385 pets. In addition to investigating cruelty and abuse cases, we attempt to help those that would like to adopt a pet and give them a loving home but cannot afford all the veterinary expenses involved with spaying, neutering, shots, etc. We also have Wildlife rehabilitation with no funding from any outside source apart from donations. It is our goal to educate the public and to encourage law enforcement personnel to enforce the laws and city ordinances desinged to curb back-yard breeding and abuse and neglect. The Centralia Humane Society encourages the citizens of Centralia and surrounding towns to alert their elected officials and law enforcement agencies to the abusive and neglectful situations in which animals in our community live. Abusing animals and allowing them to needlessly breed is violative of city ordinances and state law.

Future

Our dream is to build the "House of Hope", a no- kill, non-for profit facility. "House Of Hope" is desperately needed. Last year approximatley 1,200 dogs were euthanized at the Centralia Animal Shelter. Life is too precious. Please help us save the animals. Your support is greatly appreciated to make this needed facility a reality. We thank everyone who has helped in any way in the past .
