Who We Are
Just Animals is a no-kill, non-profit rescue group with a small staff and a number of volunteers. We are currently working out of foster homes and dream of the day when we own our very own shelter. All of our funding comes from donations and fundraisers. We take in hundreds of stray, abused, neglected, and owner surrendered animals every year. Our goal is to provide the best medical and emotional care to mend their broken bodies and spirits; and when they are ready, offer them for adoption to a safe, permanent, loving indoor homes. All pets are vet checked, spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, vaccinated, and dewormed. Cats are tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV from six months on, and dogs are Heartworm tested from six months on and either treated or put on preventative medication.
Adopting a Friend
To adopt a dog or cat an application form must be filled out. A legal contract must be signed by the adopter stating the conditions of the adoption. If the dog or cat can no longer be kept by the adopter we must be notified. We will take our pets back, however we are currently working out of fosterhomes and we must be able to locate a fosterhome for that pet before we can take him or her back. Our dogs and cats are family pets and we would like to see them treated as family members. We do not adopt them out to be outside pets. The whole family must agree to the adoption. We do not ship animals. Adoption fees are: Dogs: fees range from $195.00-$300.00. Cats: $115.00 -$160.00. This includes spay/neuter, shots, worming and heartworm tests and preventative (for the dogs) and microchipping. We accept cash or credit cards. Only local checks are accepted!

Our cats may be visited and adopted at Petsmart in Oswego and Yorkville anytime during their normal business hours. Please note that if it is near closing time for the store you maybe required to come back the following business day to complete your adoption. Arrangements may be made to meet a dog for adoption at either a Petsmart, or our office in Mazon. An approved application is required before setting up an appointment Just Animals Wellness Clinics In 2009 we started providing low cost vaccination clinics to the public as way to help people struggling with the economy keep their pets. Each month we travel to various locations seeing hundreds of dogs and cats, many of these pets are seeing a veterinarian for the very first time and they are often older than three years old. We are able to help their owners provide the vaccinations, heartworm testing / preventative, wormer and flea prevention. Proceeds from these clinics allow us to provide medical care for the pets in our rescue and save for a building of our very own.

Volunteering, Fostering and Donations

We are currently in need of volunteers to clean cages in Oswego and Yorkville and help with adoption events. Foster homes are always needed for dogs.

Donation Wish List--- Five acres of reasonably priced land in the Mazon area, we only really need to use one at this point, would be fine with us if a farmer kept farming the other four acres. Kitty litter any kind is fine with us, Purina One cat food--sorry but their stomaches get upset if we change it on them, inkjet cartridges for our printers 60 or 901, printer paper, towels, paper towels, postage stamps, monetary donations are always appreciated - you may specify whether monies donated should be used for care of the animals, the building fund or where ever it is needed.

Office Hours are by appointment only! I-80 to the Morris exit. Take Rt. 47 South to Mazon, IL and turn right at the Shell Gas Station on Grand Ridge Road. Turn left at the Mazon Bank on Depot St. We are located directly across from the Mazon Market. We are the only Green Door on the East side of the street.
