About Us

Adopting A Friend

  • First step is to decide if you are ready for a long term commitment owning a dog.   Ask yourself if you are ready for vet bills, cost of food, training the dog, and what would happen to him/her if you became ill.
  • Once you have decided you are ready for the commitment, the next step is to come to an adoption show and meet the dog you are interested in. Sometimes people fall in love with a picture, only to find another dog at the show better suits what they are looking for.
  • Please remember to bring all family members, including dog(s), who live at the home to meet the new dog.  We do not adopt out dogs as gifts.
  • After you have found your new best friend you will then be required to fill out an application.  Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, and if renting, have landlord approval, along with a copy of the lease.
  • After application is complete, a home check will be scheduled.
  • If there are multiple applications on a dog, it is then up to the foster parent & board to make a decision on the best home for the dog.  If your home is not chosen, it does not mean you are not a suitable adopter for one of our dogs.  We make our decisions based on the best fit for that particular dog. But let’s face it, the dog is the one who usually chooses his/her fur-ever home!   But we will keep your application on file, and if we have another dog you are interested in, we will then consider you as a potential adopter for that dog.
  • ADOPTION FEES:
PUPPIES up to 7 Months:  $300
    PUPPIES & DOGS 7 Months & Up:  $250

    Who We Are

Chicagoland Dog Rescue (CDR) brought a few people together who had been doing rescue work on their own. Our common goal is to rescue dogs that suffer at the hands of cruel or ignorant owners, owner give-aways, or those that are homeless. We are a small group of volunteers who work full time jobs and try to help as many dogs as we can, when we can.

Chicagoland Dog Rescue is a shelter-less rescue.  Most of our dogs are in foster homes, but we do board some dogs we take in at local shelters and vets. It is our dream to have a shelter where uninterrupted socialization will be the norm and we will be able to place as many dogs as possible in safe, loving homes.  In the meantime, we help as many dogs as we can, keeping them from being brought to various societies or kill shelters where 15,000 dogs are put to death daily in Illinois. With very limited resources, we try to medicate, socialize, and place dogs of all breeds, ages, and sizes into homes as quickly as possible.

All of our dogs have the recommended and legally required preventative inoculations and are spayed or neutered to control the repetitive birth cycle that produces more unwanted dogs. The prospective owners are interviewed, properly matched with their dog, and a home check is scheduled for safety and suitability.

Weekly socialization and some basic obedience training is offered to all new owners free of charge for the lifetime of the dog, something no other group offers!  We feel training is very crucial because a trained dog is a happy dog and contributes to a happy household.  This insures the dog's likelihood of reminaing in that loving home.
