Welcome to the Chicago Canine Rescue Foundation (CCRF). The Chicago Canine Rescue Foundation is a registererd 501(c)3 organization. CCRF assists the animals that are the MOST vulnerable in our city and in the midwest- the dogs and cats that are slated for euthanasia because they are too old, too young, too injured, have disabilities, or have simply been overlooked for too long by potential adopters at other shelters.

CCRF saves displaced and homeless dogs and cats throughout the Chicagoland area and the midwest, obtaining medical treatments for these creatures as needed, utilizing foster homes, and places these animals into loving homes through responsible adoption.

Who We Are

More than 35,000 dogs and cats are killed in Chicago every year -- even more animals are neglected and abused. The Chicago Canine Rescue Foundation's mission is to decrease the thousands of euthanizations and abuses in our city through dog rescue and adoption. CCRF saves displaced and homeless dogs throughout the Chicagoland area and places these dogs in loving homes through responsible adoption. By working with our adopters and the community on adoption and the humane treatment of animals, CCR believes that we can instill respect and appreciation for animals and contribute to making Chicago a no-kill city.

Chicago Canine Rescue is a non-profit organization that is completely funded by donations. We rely solely on the kindness of and the contributions from the Chicago community to carry out our mission. If you are interested in donating time, equipment, supplies or money, please contact us!

Adopting a Friend

Chicago Canine Rescue provides the best medical care possible for all canines who come into our organization. Each dog is examined by a licensed vet, given vaccinations for Distemper, Rabies, and Bordatella, Heartworm Tested, spayed/neutered, and given obedience training (time and funds permitting). If needed, our canines are given additional medical attention such as surgeries, and even dental work. Our canine friends are either home-fostered or boarded at professional clinics while in our care.

All potential adoptive families must complete our adoption screening process which includes an adoption form and contract, and a personal reference check. Home or apartment renters are required to provide proof of lease and permission from the landlord that pets are permitted in the residence. Please know that CCRF also performs a home check for each potential adopter and requires proof of identity prior to finalizing the adoption. CCRF's standard adoption fee is $200, which helps cover a portion of the canine's expenses while in our care. Adoption fee for felines is $100.

CCRF primarily adopts dogs into homes located in northern IL, southern WI, and northwest IN regions. Post-adoption, CCRF continues to provide veterinary and training referrals and guidance to adoptive families.
