My name is Nala, and I am a 5-1/2 year old purebred yellow Labrador! I am looking for a new home. I get along real well with everyone (all people, and I am living with other dogs, a cat and a couple of parrots!!!) but would probably do better with older kids. Even though I am 5-1/2 I still can get very excited and I would hate to knock a little one over.
I am really busy meeting new people and trying out new situations. I got to go on a vacation weekend upnorth and my foster family was really impressed with how well I stuck around and came when called. No surprise to me, I really like to be by people.
I want a family that is going to take me for daily walks and play with me; even though I am a little older I still need my exercise. After that I settle really nice in the house.
If you are interested in adding a new girl to your life, email in and ask about me, Nala!

The 63rd Annual LaGrange Pet Parade is Saturday, May 30, 2009. The parade steps off promptly at 9:30 a.m. The entire parade is completed at approximately 11:15 a.m. The theme of this year's parade is "Stars on Parade".
The LaGrange Pet Parade is one of the premier parades in the Chicago Metropolitan area. The parade takes place through downtown LaGrange and is approximately a route of 1.5 miles.
We think this will be either the 7th or 8th year that LEARN has participated in this parade. It's a lot of fun and enjoyed by many people. There are 100's of spectators along the route. Bring your dogs, bring your kids......If you would like to join LEARN in the parade, please e-mail us at learndogs@labadoption.org.

Who We Are
L.E.A.R.N.'s Mission is to be:

Adopting a friend
To adopt a dog from L.E.A.R.N.:
1) Fill out an application found on our website (http://www.labadoption.org) or by calling 847-289-PETS.
2) Approved applicants will be contacted by a volunteer for an informal home visit.
3) Dogs are matched with potential adopters who fit their needs. A person on the lab match committee will act as a liason between potential adopter and foster home.
4) Potential adopters and foster homes set up a time for the adopter to drive to meet the dog. As there are foster homes throughout northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin, it is possible that potential adopters may have to drive a couple of hours to meet a dog.
5) There is a minimum of a 24 hour waiting period before an adopter can bring his/her new family member home.
Come Visit Us!
L.E.A.R.N. is a rescue run completely by volunteers. There is no central building where dogs are kept. Rather, each dog is placed in an approved foster home for a minimum of 2 weeks. During this time, the dog receives his or her shots, is spayed or neutered, and is temperment tested in a home situation. Foster homes are located throughout southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois and potential adopters are required to drive to the foster home to meet the dogs. Because potential adopters need home visits prior to seeing dogs, as well as needing to be within driving distance of the foster homes, L.E.A.R.N. only adopts dogs out to families that are in southern Wisconsin or northern Illinois.
