Why We Charge An Adoption Fee

The Randolph County Humane Society is a 501 c3 - non-profit organization that relies completely on private donations and its own fund raising abilities to operate. We receive no federal, state or government funding or any funds from any national animal welfare organizations.

  • The fees collected from the adoption of each animal help to offset some of the costs involved in providing care for the animals and preparing an animal for placement into a new home. (99% of the time we never re-coupe what we have put into the animals, but it's so worth it if we can give them a good home)
  • Canine and Feline adoption fees include:
  • A general physical examination and behavioral evaluation done by a knowledgeable staff with many years experience and or by one of our veterinary doctors that we work with in the City & County.
  • Canine or Feline distemper combination vaccination (DHLPP) and Bordetella (canines only), Age-appropriate canines and felines also receive a rabies vaccination.
  • Worming medication
  • Flea/tick treatment
  • Canine Heart-worm testing is done and all are started on preventative, (if tested negative only) or Feline Leukemia Antigen Test (Cats/Kittens) (if age appropriate and meets testing guidelines)
  • Spay/Neuter (State Regulations) ALL Animals MUST BE DONE!
  • Microchip Implant (ID)
  • PLUS many more things that are needed to get the animal happy and healthy once again in their lives.

Who We Are

Randolph County Humane Society is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare and care of homeless, abandoned or neglected animals. We provide shelter, food and medical care to the many animals each year that come through our doors everyday 365 days a week... it never stops. We are a limited space shelter, and do our best to get animals placed or put onto a transport to another licensed & state certified no-kill facility, or into foster home if available. But we ask for your patience while we do so. We provide care to every animal in need that comes through the doors of our Animal Control Facilities they are first animals to be saved, due to the limited space that animal control has. Then if space is available we will take owner surrenders within reasonable causes, and we do ask for your cooperation and help to support the animal, so a Owner Surrender Fee is asked for.

Beyond the basics, every animal receives compassionate care from our volunteers while they are waiting to be united with their new families, or while in animal control or on their way to finding a new home in another No kill facility. Warm blankets, toys and treats, and socializing are all a part of the day-to-day duties that Randolph County Humane Society gives the many animals each and every day.

The Randolph County Humane Society main objective is to serve as a safe haven for homeless and neglected pets and act as a resource to the community. By educating the children & public about issues pertaining to animals, we feel that we can work towards the elimination of overpopulation of dogs and cats and teach the owners to be responsible pet owners. But all owners must help to control this with Spay & Neutering their pets, And PLEASE STOP BREEDING. At the same time, we hope to facilitate adoption of pets into good homes so that we can allow more unwanted animals to find a temporary home with us while they wait for the forever home that will give them a lifetime of love a care. ALL DONATIONS ARE WELCOME Its how we continue to remain open. THIS IS A 365 day operation, their are no holidays the animals need us to be their for them.
