The Champaign County Humane Society was founded in 1951 by a diverse group of local citizens who cared deeply about animals. Our first shelter was built that same year near Bondville, Illinois. In June of 1988, after a five year fundraising drive, we moved into our current 10,800 square foot shelter in Urbana. Our name reflects our geographic location only. We are not a government body and we are not supported by tax dollars. We are not affiliated with any national organization. We are an "open door" shelter and accept all animals in need, regardless of age, physical condition or adoptability. As a local, not-for-profit charity, we exist through the generosity of many individuals and businesses and are supported by a community that cares.
Adopting a Friend
Adoption fees for Puppies range from $100-$150, dogs range from $95-$150, Kittens are $100, and Cats range from $50-75. All pets are current on vaccines with the exception of rabies, and have been spayed or neutered. The adoption fee includes a microchip, hw or felv testing, CCHS ID tag, coupons and a free bag of food.

We have chosen Kuranda dog beds for our boarding facilities because they are so good for our dogs. We still don't have enough for all of our kennels. If you would like to donate a bed so another dog can sleep in proper comfort, please click here.
