Our Region: Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana

We are responsible for the Pacific Northwest states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. We also help dogs in Alaska and parts of Canada when help is needed. We primarily have 6 main hubs for our foster home pool. In Washington, they are Seattle and Spokane. In Idaho they are Boise and Idaho Falls. In Montana, it is Augusta. In Oregon, it is Portland.

Our Mission ...

... to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home English Springer Spaniels in need.

Who We Are

English Springer Rescue America, Inc. (ESRA) is a nationwide rescue group and a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. We provide foster care and adoption referral services to shelters and animal control facilities with impounded Springers. We also assist owners who are unable to keep their Springers.

Please visit our national website at www.springerrescue.org to learn more about us and to see all the Springers in our care. Please note that the listings on our national website are more up-to-date than those on PetFinder.

The Washington/Idaho ESRA PetFinder listings are intended to spotlight those dogs available in Washington, Idaho, and Montana.

Adopting a Friend

Thank you for considering a rescue Springer. Rescue Springers are extremely loving and intelligent dogs looking for a caring home willing to give them a second chance.

All dogs adopted through ESRA are neutered / spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped and heartworm tested.  We also address any medical conditions our dogs may have, so that you adopt a healthy family companion. Our dogs are evaluated in loving foster homes so we can better match their personalities and habits with those of their new families. Our adoption fee is $300 for all dogs, with the exception of our Springers for Seniors. This program allows us to place senior dogs into homes with seniors for reduced or no adoption fees. We have no paid staff; all of our members are volunteers and every dollar of the adoption fee goes towards saving other dogs. Those homes who successfully adopt a Springer through our referral program are asked to make a tax-deductible donation to help us care for other Springers in need of assistance.

We ask that you complete an adoption application, which can be found at ESRA's national website. Your application will help us determine not only what you are looking for in a dog, but will also let us know to which state/region or individual coalition member to send your adoption inquiry to.

ESRA is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, which allows your donation to be tax deductible.

Rally to Rescue

We are proud to be a Purina Proplan Rally to Rescue Ambassador.  Rally to Rescue® recognizes the importance of the work pet rescuers do to help protect homeless pets, and we are committed to doing our part to help in this mission. Rally to Rescue® helps rescue organizations across the country give rescued pets the nutrition and care they need and the loving homes they deserve.  Since the inception of Rally to Rescue® in 2005, more than 314,000 pets have found loving, forever homes. But there is still more work to do! Rally to Rescue® encourages everyone to help our Ambassadors across the country reach our grand total goal of 400,000 adoptions by the end of 2010. See more at www.rallytorescue.org.

Foster homes needed!!!!!

We desperately need foster homes.  There are ONLY three foster homes on the eastern side of Washington, two in all of Idaho and two in the entire state of Montana.  Please think about fostering.  We always need foster homes on the western side of Washington as well.  Please consider fostering.  The only out of pocket expense is for dog food and most times there is already a dog in the house.  See our main website for more details.

Come Visit Us!

ESRA does not have a shelter facility. Most of our dogs are in foster homes, where they learn house manners, gain socialization skills, and where we have a chance to learn their personalities so that we can place them in the appropriate home. Please contact us to set up an appointment to visit one!

All of our volunteers have regular full-time jobs, families, and pets of their own. Our work to help springers is done on a volunteer basis. Sometimes we are working on saving several springers at once. Please be patient and know that finding the right home can take time, but it is in the best interest of our springers.

Visit our national website to see all of our Springers looking for homes.
