Teton Valley Humane Society
Who We Are
Welcome to the Teton Valley Humane Society, an organization that started as a grassroots network of foster families made up of caring individuals in our valley. We are community members who are dedicated to the safety and humane treatment of Teton Valley Idaho's homeless domestic animals. In 1998 the animal shelter opened its doors providing housing and medical facilities for stray and abandoned animals until permanent, loving homes can be found.
TVHS is a non-profit organization under the 501-c3 IRS tax code. This means the shelter survives solely on donations and support from the members of our community. We receive no money from the county or state government. We welcome donations of any dollar amount as well as professional services or items from our current "wish list", all of which are tax deductible for the donor.
Message from TVHS
Executive Director
Dear Friends,
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. The Teton Valley Humane Society is Idaho's first and largest "no kill" facility. "No kill" means that animals are not euthanized except when they are diagnosed with a fatal disease or if they are non-rehabilitatable.
Our mission is to promote humane treatment of all animals, provide shelter for homeless and abused animals, and to ensure our animals are placed in permanent loving homes.
Since our doors opened in January of 1998 the shelter has cared for over 1,882 animals. Of those 1,081 were successful adoptions, 391 were returned to their owners, 67 were animals that died of natural causes or were euthanized because of fatal diseases and 92 are still available for adoption.
Today, the Teton Valley Humane Society is working hard to raise funds for a spay/neuter clinic at the shelter. Donations from the community will be used towards the spay/neuter facility. Once completed the Teton Valley Humane Society will be able to meet the following goals:
Stop companion animal overpopulation
Provide low income spay/neuter clinic
Teach the public on pet overpopulation
In the time it takes you to read this paragraph a wonderful cat or dog will be euthanized in a shelter somewhere in the United States. Why? Because there are too many animals and not enough good homes. Please do the right thing and spay and neuter your pets.
The Teton Valley Humane Society, PAWS, and the Jackson Animal Shelter are working hard to control the number of unwanted pets in the valley. With the help of caring and compassionate people of this community, we will soon make this dream and these goals a reality. Thank you for taking the time to read this and showing your support!
Sincerely,
Michelle DeLange
