Who We Are
We take in homeless animals from shelters or from bad situations, such as abandonment or neglect. Often the shelters are full, and doing this gives them more time to find homes for animals that would otherwise be euthanized. We are a limited intake, no-kill shelter. We occasionally take in animals from private homes, but as we are the only no-kill in this area, generally have a waiting list.
Adopting a friend
All animals are spayed or neutered and have had all their shots. Dogs over six months old are tested for heartworm, and cats for feline leukemia and FIV. In addition, dogs are on heartworm preventative.

Our adoptable animals can be seen daily at Pet Central Station, a pet supplies boutique located at 611 Southgate Avenue. The store is in the big blue building on the corner of Keokuk and Southgate. On Keokuk, go one block south of Hwy. 6, and the store will be on your right, just across the street from a Mexican restaurant called La Reyna. You will pass Kmart on the left. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11:00 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
If you are interested in seeing a specific pet, we strongly suggest calling ahead to set up an appointment, as they may have been adopted recently, may be in a foster home, at a vet appointment or on a play date.
