Our Featured Pet...

Bo-Kay Rozaz came to MDRN on Valentine’s day through one of our favorite Nebraska rescue groups. She’s one of the Dakota Darlings from the closure of a horrible puppymill in South Dakota. Despite the fact that Bo-Kay lived the first six years of her life in a small cage with little human contact and no socialization, she has the sweetest personality and loves to give kisses to her Foster Mom. Within the first few days at her new foster home, Bo-Kay mastered the art of going up and down the steps in order to go outside to the fenced-in yard. She is doing good on her potty training, but a snowstorm in her first week hasn't helped, and there’s a lot to learn in this category. Bo-Kay is comfortable following her Foster Mom around the house all day, but is still very fearful of men and has several hiding places in the house where she feels safe if any men are around. Hopefully one day soon she will learn to trust and love everyone. Bo-Kay gets along well with the other small dogs in her foster home and loves to eat and roll around on the carpet and soft blankets, a new-found comfort. Bo-Kay has a lot to learn and experience, and she also has a lot of love to give to that special family. Bo-Kay would probably make a good agility dog as she has no fear of jumping up on the kitchen chairs and even the kitchen table (we are working on “No”, but there’s so much to learn). Bo-Kay sleeps in her choice of one of the many nice soft dog beds or one of the many big fluffy blankets next to the human bed for now, but may progress to the people bed after successfully completing potty training. For now, life is now safe and good for Bo-Kay, but she is looking for her furever home where she will continue to be loved and spoiled like a princess. Bo-Kay has been spayed and had a dental and is current on all her vaccinations.

We have more dogs needing homes then we have foster homes.  If you are interested in helping a dog in need please email us.  WE NEED FOSTER HOMES.  We have a few dogs that come from large breeding kennels. They were scared when they arrived but are do WONDERFUL in their foster homes. It is such a joy to watch them learn to play for the first time with toys or learn the pleasure of a gentle touch. We are happy to help them start their new life and help find them "forever homes". We have a few dogs from local over crowded shelters.

Who We Are

We are a "network" of rescuers in the Midwest. Many of us have known one another for years from helping with various local rescue groups, shelters, and national breed rescue groups. All of us have had the experience of coming across a dog that needed help that didn’t have a rescue group that could take them into their program. We were finding that regardless of breed or whether a dog is "purebred", there are many of us out there who wanted to help these dogs and need a place to list them. Therefore, we decided to start Midwest Dog Rescue Network to help rescuers help dogs that would otherwise "fall through the cracks". We are a collection of rescuers and some good-hearted individuals, who are just trying to help as many good dogs find homes as possible. We are an all volunteer, all donation funded registered 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization

Adopting a friend

ALL our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped prior to adoption. Please contact us if you are interested in one of our dogs and we will send you a questionnaire to fill out so we can get to know you better. Since all our dogs are in foster homes, we will then put you in touch with the appropriate foster parent so you can find out more about the dog of interest.

Come Visit Us!

WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. ALL OF OUR DOGS ARE IN PRIVATE FAMILY HOMES. If you have an animal control problem please call 402-444-7800. We do not have a shelter but foster out of our home, and the homes of many wonderful friends! If you are interested in one of our dogs, please contact us. Looking for a specific breed that you just can't find? Have you checked your local shelter? More than 1 out of 3 dogs in shelters are "purebred" . Many shelters rely on volunteers to update their websites and they might not always be current. Go visit your local shelter- you never know what you might find! Or contact us and we'd be happy to help you find a breed rescue group in your area! . Please do not contact us if you are looking for a dog that you plan to leave outside in a kennel or in a garage or patio, we will not adopt to you. We are looking for homes that are looking for pets to be a part of their family.
