After becoming aware of the horrendous number of animals euthanized each day in shelters and pounds throughout the country, K-9 Kast-a-ways was formed with a mission to rescue dogs who had run out of time. Some of these dogs were found as strays, some were left abandoned to die, and some were simply dumped off in the middle of the night when they became too old, too sick, too big, or just too much trouble to take care of.
When it is time for you to adopt, please consider a shelter pet. The shelters, pounds, rescues, and humane societies are overflowing with wonderful, loving animals who deserve a chance at life. A former shelter pet will be your devoted friend forever.
Adopting a Friend
Adopting an animal is a lifetime commitment. They are not disposable. When an animal is adopted, it becomes part of your family. It requires and deserves the same love, care, respect, and commitment as any other family member for its entire life. We will only place a rescued dog in a home with an owner who shares these same beliefs. Although it is our wish to find a home for every homeless dog that we are able to rescue, we must assure that the right dog is placed into the right home. You will first need to fill out an application for adoption and provide personal and veterinarian references. A home visit may be made to assure that the dog is placed in a stable and safe environment.
If You Would Like to Help
Many of our rescued dogs have not previously received proper veterinary care and when they come to us, their veterinary needs are treated at our own expense, only a portion of which is recovered in the adoption fee. If you would like to help with our mission, a donation of any amount is greatly appreciated and will be used solely to provide for the care of the animals. Thank you.
