Our Featured Pet...
Gidget is our featured pet of the season. She is a fun-loving Hackney-type four-year-old pony.
Formerly shy and spooky, she has come out of her shell at her wonderful foster home. She is bright and inquisitive. You'll love her curious personality. She's ready to take home and get started on her training.
See www.userl.org for more information about USERL.
Want to help out needy horses? Do you have the space and time to give a neglected horse a new lease on life? USERL-Iowa is looking for foster homes. This is a great opportunity for someone who has the skills as a horse caretaker to give a neglected horse the love and attention he needs to get back on the road to good health and prepare for his permanent adoptive home.
If you would like to apply to be a foster home, please call or write (800)650-8549 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you!

Adopting a friend
It is the goal of USERL-Iowa to place each horse in the home best suited to its needs. All prospective adopters must fill out an adoption application and submit with $10.00 application fee. After USERL checks all references, a site check of the property where the horse will be kept will be made. Fencing, buildings and pastures must be safe, clean and free of debris. Note that horses adopted from USERL may not be kept in barbed wire fencing. Horses adopted from USERL cannot be used for breeding.
Following an acceptable facility inspection and reference check, the application will be evaluated, the information reviewed and a final placement decision will be made.
When all requirements are met, and preliminary adoption procedures have been satisfied, USERL will require the following at the time of adoption:
§ A completed Adoption Contract, which may include terms and conditions that have been determined by USERL based on the specific needs of each horse.
§ Payment in full of the adoption donation is required at the time of adoption.
§ USERL reserves the right to conduct follow-up visits on the adopted horse and the facility at USERL's discretion. Upon placement of a horse, USERL may require the adopter to submit documentation of services from the adopter's veterinarian and farrier.
All donations are non refundable, and are used to fund the rehabilitation of future abused, neglected or unwanted horses located in Iowa.
