At the time of adoption, all of our dogs and puppies are spayed or neutered, have a nationally registered micro-chip, are current on all shots (including rabies), have been de-wormed, and heartworm tested upon request. They have also been bathed, had their ears cleaned and flea treatments, as needed. The dogs are in great health when they go to a new home! Our adoption fee is $125.00, which covers all of the above procedures/treatments. We also spend time evaluating our dog's temperaments to find out if they are dog, cat, or child friendly!
Adoption Events
We currently have no events scheduled, but hope to resume our Goodwill and Bomgaars events soon!
Our newest adoption event runs from April to October, and is the first Saturday of each month from 11am to 1pm at Camping World, 2802 S 21st St, Council Bluffs, Iowa.
**If you find a dog you are really interested in we suggest you call the shelter at 712-366-0152 and request an application to be faxed to you. As soon as we get the application faxed back, we will then hold the dog for you for 48 hours, assuming we haven't already received an application on that dog. This is the only way we will hold a dog for you. We will take multiple adoption applications on the same dog and those are held in the order they come in. We operate on a first come/first serve basis.**
Come Visit Us!
We are located just off I-29 South at exit 42 (Bellevue exit). Turn right onto 189th street which is the access road to Mid American Energy past the Saddle Store and the trucking company, and take your first left on Applewood Road. We are a block up on your right....you can't miss us. We are open to the public Monday through Friday, 9 to 2 PM and by appointments an weekends and evenings. We are closed holidays.
