Oconee Regional Humane Society Inc.
The Oconee Regional Humane Society is located at Lake Oconee, Georgia, between Greensboro and Eatonton (85 miles East of Atlanta off I-20). We rescue dogs and cats from the county animal control shelters and place them in foster homes, where they are loved, socialized, and temperament tested. This allows us to identify their special needs so we can place them in the best environment possible. All adoptions are guaranteed and we will accept any animal back in our adoption program if the adoption doesn't work out. For this reason, we prefer not to adopt our foster animals outside the State of Georgia.
Adopting a Friend . . .
All of our animals have been spayed or neutered and have had vaccinations and rabies shots. Adult dogs have been heartworm tested and started on heartworm preventative. Cats have been tested for feline leukemia.
Adoption Fees are: Dogs $100.00
Cats $85.00
If you are interested in adopting, email ORHS@plantationcable.net for an application.
Who We Are
The Oconee Regional Humane Society was incorporated in March of 1999 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our mission is to help lost, abused. neglected & abandoned animals. We assist the local county animal shelter in finding homes for homeless pets and operate a network of foster homes for animals awaiting adoption. Our organization is staffed entirely by volunteers; we have no salaried employees. We operate a rapidly growing spay/neuter program for the pets of low-income residents in our community. This program is unique in that, if the resident's income is below $15,000 per year, the Humane Society pays 100% of the cost of the spay/neuter surgery. If the resident's income exceeds $15,000 per year but is still low enough to make surgery a hardship, we request a donation to help defray the cost of the surgery. We know of no other community spay/neuter program that offers NO-COST surgeries for the pets of needy residents.
