Atlanta Underdog Initiative is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization licensed by the Georgia Department of Agriculture and registered with the Georgia Secretary of State. We are an all-volunteer, foster-home based organization. We rescue dogs when our resources allow, but our primary focus is on promoting responsible dog ownership, providing breed information on pit bulls and mastiffs, finding alternative solutions to breed specific legislation and working with communities to alleviate the pet overpopulation problem. Though we focus on pit bulls and mastiffs, we will help any dog in need if we are able. We believe every underdog should have his day!
Potential adopters must be willing to submit an application, have a home inspection done by a representative of AUDI as well as provide a personal and a veterinary reference.
The program only applies to dogs who have been advertised as being part of the referral program, not all AUDI dogs.
How it works:
An adoptable dog is listed as being a part of the Adopter Referral Program. Anyone who is not an officer or family of an officer of AUDI is eligible. The purpose is to leverage our social media contacts to look for eligible adopters. To be eligible to collect a referral fee, a contact's referral MUST mention the contact by name on the adoption application. Once the application has been submitted, it is too late to add a referral contact. Only 1 referral contact by application will be permitted. AUDI will not divide up the referral fee to multiple contacts. Adoption applicants must meet all AUDI requirements for the adoption to be completed, as well as local laws and community policies regarding dog ownership. AUDI reserves the right to reject any adoption application. Payment of the adoption fee to AUDI signifies the finalization of the adoption process. Exactly six months after the finalization of the adoption, AUDI will conduct a post-adoption review to ensure that all requirements are still being met, the dog is physically and mentally healthy, and that the adopter wishes to keep the dog. If both parties are still satisfied with the adoption, the referral fee will be paid to the referring contact. If the adoption is terminated either by AUDI or the adopting party before 6 months, the referral fee will not be paid.
