Follow this link to 1-800-PetMeds: pet meds
They recently partnered with us to donate flea/tick preventive to our organization. Many thanks to 1-800-PetMeds!!
Our dogs love to sleep on Kuranda Dog beds, but we don't have enough for everyone.
If you would like to donate a bed at a special wholesale price for a another dog to sleep in comfort, please donate a Kuranda dog bed.
The bed you donate will help the animals in the Posey Shelter Pets Rescue.
Who We Are
Posey Shelter Pet Promoters, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in Cedartown, GA. We are the largest no-kill rescue in the area, taking in and caring for nearly 100 animals at present.
We have many ongoing projects to help our community. One of our programs involve our volunteers going into the Polk County Animal Control Shelter to temperament test and photograph the animals housed there. The photographs and information are posted on Petfinder. History has shown that this greatly increases the animal's exposure to the public, thereby elevating his/her chance of getting adopted into a loving home. We also coordinate the adoptions and notify pure breed rescues when a dog arrives that may be of interest to their organization. We provide transport to these organizations when needed.
We also go into the shelter and rescue as many of these same dogs/cats when their time is up and euthanasia is scheduled as we possibly can. These animals are then brought into our No-Kill Program. We use our base of foster volunteers to house PSPP animals during their quarantine period. Each pet will then undergo complete vetting including deworming, vacinations, micro-chip ID, spay/neuter surgery, heartworm and flea preventive and any other necessary procedures needed to place the animal.
From time to time PSPP also takes in pets from owners that are in financial hardship, moving, or for other reasons, can no longer keep their pets.
Puppy Preservation Program
We have partnered with the Atlanta Humane Society to transfer puppies through our Puppy Preservation Program. Do you have a litter of puppies?.....or an expectant mother?
Contact us to see how we can help you rehome the puppies and spay the mother dog.
Low Cost Spay/Neuter Transport Program
PSPP has partnered with the West Georgia Spay/Neuter Clinic to provide transport from Polk County to their clinic located in Villa Rica, GA. This partnership was formed to offer pet owners a low cost Spay/Neuter alternative. This Spay/Neuter Transport runs twice a month. The cost to Neuter a male cat is $45 and to Spay a female cat is $60. The cost to Neuter a male dog is $65 and to Spay a female dog is $80. This includes the transport fee. Other services such as Vaccinations ($6. each), Nail Trims, etc are also provided at time of Spay/Neuter. For reservation information, please call 770-749-9998 or 678-361-7304.
If for some reason you are unable to take advantage of this great opportunity, you can fill in your zipcode below and with one click get information on other low cost Spay/Neuter options.
Tank the "READ" Dog
We also have "Tank", our READ dog. Tank was rescued from the Polk County Animal Control Shelter and received training to become an American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen. He also passed testing to become a member of the Delta Society and currently visits the media center at Van Wert Elementary School. During his stay, children read him their favorite stories and gain confidence in their reading skills. Tank is a very good listener.
These are just a few highlights of our involvement in the community.
