BEST BOARDING FACILITY: http://www.desperatedogsusa.com/
The owner of desperate dogs is also the oncall behaviourist for Gracies Place. When you go on vacation, why not send your pet on a vacation?!!! Where they can run and play all day, swim, eat a home cooked meal, sit on the couch and watch TV... you won't feel guilty sending your pooch to Desperate Dogs. They are amazing and Gracies Place could not do what they do without the help of Desperate dogs!
Who We Are
We are a VERY small group, officially formed in 2009! We are a Very small team of ladies who save and foster dogs in our own homes in order to find them their forever homes. . All the dogs are in foster homes. Please don't "shop" for your next pet but consider rescue adoption whether from us, a local shelter, or other rescue organization.
Unfortunately, we can only take what we have a foster home for...we do not have a physical shelter
Adopting a friend
If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, our process is pretty simple, send us an email and we will forward you our adoption application (takes about 10 minutes) and then we will call you to set up a meeting with your new potential pet. We often like to bring the pet to your home so you can see how it will interact in your environment with your other pets (if applicable) and children.
OUR FEES:
Unfortunately, it costs money to get the animals ready and healthy for adoption so we do have to charge an adoption fee. Our fees usually barely cover our internal costs. We also strive to place the right pet in the right home. The volunteers sacrifice alot to save the lives of these precious animals. Our standard fee 85% of the time is $200. However there are times it could be a little less than this and an example would be if someone was considering an older dog. Some times it could be just a little bit more depending on what has had to be done and the dog. The maximum fee we charge on any adoption is $300. Our dogs are fully vetted and in foster care so we can tell you about the dispostion of the dog and the home that is best suited.
In addition we have an oncall pet behaviourist for the first 90 days of adoption. If any issues pop up when getting your dog acclimated to its new home, you are not left alone. This is the service we provide and the reason some people want to adopt from a rescue versus a shelter and the reason we do what we do. We have to charge a little bit more than the shelters out there as many dogs even when they come out of the shelter need additional vet care for things like tummy aches, colds, skin infections. As mentioned above our average internal cost per dog is almost always more than our actual adoption fees. Without adoption fees, we cannot continue to save lives...
