Featured Dogs

We always have a variety of looking for a forever home. Each one has been vaccinated and evaluated for temperament. Our staff can help you choose just the right pet for your family and lifestyle. Each dog will be spayed or neutered and microchipped prior to leaving for its new home. These dogs are full of love and just need someone to give it to. Opt to adopt!

Featured Cats

Our kitties are all sweet and affectionate. Some of them just want a shoulder to make biscuits on and others prefer to chase balls and play. You'll never fail to be amused by the antics of a kitten! A cat doesn't ask for much - just a snuggly place to sleep, food, water and a clean litter box. In return, you'll get a devoted companion!

Thanks to our dedicated staff and volunteers, we have implemented many positive changes benefiting our animals and County taxpayers. More changes are expected, and we welcome your ideas...and especially hope to hear from people who are interested in volunteering at our shelter.
We are always in need of bleach, cat and dog food (canned and dry), towels, office supplies, or any pet related products. All donations are greatly appreciated.

We gladly work with licensed pet rescue agencies around the country. All our dogs and cats listed on Petfinder are available for adoption or rescue. There are also many not posted while their health and temperament evaluations are being completed and they are being vaccinated. We always have additional animals that may not yet be listed on Petfinder. Please check with us if you do not see the breed/size of the pet you are looking for. If you are interested in rescuing any of our pets, please contact the shelter. We would love to hear from you.

GREAT NEWS

We are continuing our rescue efforts by sending many of our dogs and puppies to shelters and rescues where they will be held until adopted. Heartfelt thanks to the staff and volunteers all who are making it possible.

The Habersham County Animal Care & Control serves as the official animal shelter for Habersham County. The shelter provides safe haven for stray and abandoned animals, and makes every effort to find good homes for available cats and dogs. We hope both County residents, and non-residents, will choose the adoption- option for our deserving pets, and we welcome visitors to our facility who are interested in finding a new family member.

We welcome the opportunity to work with schools or other groups who would like to schedule tours and to learn more about animal care and welfare as it relates to our community.

Just stop by the shelter to visit the dogs and cats. You are welcome to walk any of the adoptable dogs to get to know them and play with the kitties to find the right personality for you. We have adoption specialists who will help you pick the right pet for your family and lifestyle. We will have your new pet spayed or neutered before adoption, so this may cause a slight delay in you actually bringing your new pet home, but it gives you the needed time to prepare for it's arrival.

The adoption fee is $110 for all dogs and puppies, cats and kittens. The fees includes: Dogs: Spay/neuter, rabies vaccination, Da2ppv vaccination, Bordatella vaccination, deworming, heartworm test, microchipping and registration, and a limited health insurance plan! Cats: Spay/neuter, rabies vaccination, FVRCP vaccination, FeLV test, deworming, microchipping and registration, and a limited health insurance plan

Come Visit Us!

We are nestled behind the Clarkesville Fairgrounds off of Hwy 17/ GA115.( if you see the Ruby Fulbright Aquatic Center, we are right across the road). We enjoy a quiet atmosphere in a welcoming County that provides both great country hospitality and beautiful scenery.

We strongly recommend that you have your pets microchipped. Microchipping is available for only $25.00 through the shelter!
