Sponsoring
In order to raise money, our rescue has a sponsor program. For $10 you can sponsor a guinea pig of your choice, and even chose or change the name. We will send you weekly progress reports including pictures, and let you know about them. Once they are adopted we will let you know and sometimes the adopters even allow us to give out emails so the sponsor and the adopter can talk back and forth in order for more information and pigtures can be seen.
For $25 you can sponsor a whole cage of guinea pigs for a year. Like sponsoring a single guinea pig, you can name or rename the guinea pigs in that cage. We will send you weekly pictures of the guinea pigs in that cage, along with progress reports and backrounds. When a new guinea pig enters the cage or guinea pigs leave the cage, we will inform you of that as well.
All the money goes back to the rescue for supplies and vet trips, and every little bit helps. Please email for more information about sponsoring, we would love to answer any questions you may have.
Who We Are
Kimmie's Guineas Rescue is a privately funded and run guinea pig rescue that is home-based. We began when we noticed the only other guinea pig rescue in the state was full, and there were still so many that needed homes. We spoil our piggies, who know the sound of a crinkling bag for their treats (fruits and veggies) more than they know their names. They get the best care while in the rescue, as well as when they are placed in their new homes.
Adopting
* We do not adopt out guinea pigs to be by themselves, but will adopt out single guinea pigs if you need a buddy for a piggy you already have.
* You must have the needed supplies before the time of adoption. The cage requirement for two piggies is 4 feet by 2 feet, not including upper levels, and a picture must be sent.
*We ask for an adoption fee to ensure a good home, which goes back to the rescue to pay for supplies and vet trips. The fees are generally as follows:
Baby- (under three months) $25
Adult- (over three months) $20
If you are interested in adopting, please feel free to email us. It greatly helps if you completely fill out all of the sections on the online adoption form on our website (listed below).
Wishlist
If you can donate supplies, the following is always greatly needed and appreciated:
Newspaper to line the cages. One 50 cent newspaper makes a huge difference.
Hay, both Timothy and Alfalfa, is needed for the digestion of guinea pigs. Timothy hay for adults, Alfalfa hay for pregnant, nursing, or young guinea pigs.
Bedding, for obvious reasons! We use and prefer Aspen, though other beddings will do the same job! However, cedar and pine are toxic to piggies and cannot be used.
