Who We Are

The Georgia Partnership for Animals is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization comprised of caring individuals dedicated to assisting animals who are victims of abuse, neglect and abandonment.

GPA's primary areas of focus are:

Meeting Our Pets

Come and meet us at our adoption event on Sunday, February 1st, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Petco at 13089 Highway 9 North, Milton, GA 30004, 770-772-0961. Want to meet your future pet? Contact us for an adoption application. For those applicants who have submitted applications and have received pre-approval, we will bring the pet to your home to meet all (human and non-human) family members.

How can you help?

GPA needs donations to give the medical care needed for all our dogs and cats. If you can help, please send a donation either through Paypal to our account gpa@gpanimals.com or a check made out to Georgia Partnership for Animals and mailed to:

We need good foster homes that can help us so we can "save" more dogs and cats. We will be asking people who wish to foster to complete an application so that we can make sure to match people with the right type of dog.

Adopt one our babies and give them a new life that makes up for what they have been through. We know that many of them are older and several have limited eyesight, but their hearts are big and ready to love.

We Have A Special Request - Please Help SAMSON

Samson came to us as a very sad case and has turned into a bitter sweet story. We are trying to give him another happy ending.

Samson is an older purebred Boxer that had a very hard life based on the condition he is in. He was found in the streets starved and in very bad shape. We took him in, nursed him back to health, loved him and found him a home with a woman that loved him and adored him. He came to love and adore her too. Here is his story as we first wrote it when we posted him up for adoption 2 years ago:

Samson is one of these cases that just breaks your heart to think of what his life must have been like. He has collar marks around his neck from a chain rubbing and the hair there will never grow back. He seems to have the same marks on the tops of his ears although we can’t image what they would have rubbed up against for so long. He has calluses on his elbows and legs that are typical of a dog that has lain on a hard rough surface for a long time. He had a cist on his neck that was removed. He was heartworm positive and has been given treatment to rid him of the heartworms. He was not neutered which in turn contributed to a hernia in his back quarter. He is emaciated but has been eating very well and so this will also be remedied.

Samson was probably another poor backyard dog that was forced to live a life of loneliness while chained outside. He had no notion of what it was to be in a house and when he would go outside, he had to learn that he would be allowed back in. Now, when he goes outside to potty, he quickly comes back in and will softly bark at the door if you are not there to open it right away for him. He is also learning about affection and after a few days, finally gave me the signature boxer wiggle although a weak one due to his condition. He is my shadow in the house as if he can’t believe his new life is true and he is afraid it might go away if he is not careful.

Samson is not yet ready to go to his forever home but we are hoping to find someone that will open their hearts and home to him once he is ready to go. He must first gain some weight, complete his heartworm treatment for full recovery, have the cist removed and finally be neutered. He will of course have all his shots and be micro-chipped as well. He is now housebroken and crate trained. He is doing well with the other dogs and is even really good with cats but his new home should be quiet and other dogs should be calm to allow him to spend his last years in a quiet, cozy and loving atmosphere. Please give Samson a chance to experience the love and safety of a good home for his senior years.

The second part of Samson's story was much happier... that is until just a few days ago. Samson was unbelievably happy with his new Mom KP who, despite being restricted in movement gave him daily exercise, the best care and all the love he could ever hope for. KP and Samson could be seen every single day going on their 2 mile walk... KP in her motorized wheelchair and Samson walking and jogging beside her. Samson was in heaven!

One year after Samson was in his new home, KP learned that she was very ill and one day the time would come when she would no longer be able to care for herself nor for her beloved Samson. She called Samson's old foster Mom and asked her to visit at which time she asked her for her help and promise. A promised was given to find a home that would love Samson as much as she loved him when the time came for them to be separated. This was one year ago and the time has come. Samson said his goodbyes to KP and is once again looking for someone who will take him in and love him.

We are looking for a very special home for this boy. One that will give him a safe place to finish his days. If you think you would like to adopt him, or even foster him, please email us at gpa.gpanimals.com or call his foster Mom at 404-429-0479. Samson's adoption fee is $200.00.

Featured Dog

This is Lola, an 8 month old sweet Terrier mix. Lola is quite an incredible little girl. She was abandoned by her owner and left to fend for herself. Fortunately, some very caring people helped her out and so now she is one of our star fosters. Lola was described as over exited and when we met her, what we found was amazing intelligence. Within minutes of meeting Lola and giving her a bit of direction, she learned to sit, not jump up on people and not pull on the leash… all this in about 20 minutes. And that was only the beginning. She was not potty trained and after her first accident, she was taught to go outside and 24 hours later, has had no other accidents. She has been introduced to dogs ranging in size from Great Danes to Chihuahuas and has done well with all of them and even did well with the cats. Lola weighs about 25 pounds and will not get much bigger. She is incredibly agile and so fast that we wondered if she could be mixed with a Whippet. This speed and agility combined with her sharp intelligence and ability to learn quickly would make her a fantastic agility dog. Lola is spayed, micro-chipped, up to date on shots and heart worm negative. She needs a person or family that will challenge Lola to learn more and more. The more she learns, the happier she will be. Lola is extremely sweet and loves all people and animals and she deserves a home with someone who will love her in return. If you would like to know more, please contact her foster Mom at 404-429-0479. Lola's adoption fee is $200.00.

Featured Dog

Meet Lochlin, a very big and very sweet Great Dane. Lochlin was relinquished to rescue because he was spending about 20 hours per day in a crate. His owner would be gone for 11 hours during the day then he ate his meals in his crate and had to stay in his crate for an hour per meal and then Lochlin also slept in his crate. His family decided that another home would be better for this poor boy. Lochlin is beautiful with a big square head but his previous owners said that when they got him as a puppy, his ears were really badly cropped. Consequently, his ears lay flat on his head as they were cropped much too short. When you first meet him, you notice his ears but within a few minutes, you don't even see them anymore. The only thing you see is his shining personality. Lochlin has been in his new foster home for 1 week now and has proven himself to be absolutely amazing!!! He has not once been crated and has had no accidents nor has he made any messes nor destroyed anything. He is housebroken, neutered, micro-chipped, up to date on shots and drop dead gorgeous. He does need to put on weight but that will happen soon enough. He currently weighs 130 lbs but when all is said and done, will be at a good weight probably around 150 to 160 lbs. This boy is extremely friendly and is good with other dogs and even cats. He has to be taught that they are not toys and that he must play gently but he is a smart boy and is getting the hang of it. He wants to play so badly that he flea bites the resident Great Dane's and Boxer's legs and feet to get them to pay attention to him and play. You can see that he has to regain muscle tone and strength from not enough exercise but he is getting a lot of running around in his foster home so that will also be taken care of. We will require a fenced in back yard for Lochlin where he can get some exercise. If you have any questions or want further information, please call his foster Mom at 404-429-0479. His adoption fee is $300.

Featured Adoption

Tori is one lucky dog. She went from horrible beginnings where she was a victim of abuse and neglect and almost starved to death to becoming an adored member of her new family. Kim and Jon took in this funny little Dane girl and made her the happiest girl in the world; now she has a Mom, a Dad and two new brother, Bo and Rico.

We want to take a moment and thank everyone who has supported our efforts and helped us with all the Puppy Mill babies we took in over the last 18 months. We just adopted out our last puppy mill rescue to a wonderful family.

A Little About Puppy Mills Do you know what's behind that cute puppy in the pet store window?
  • dogs that live a life often worse than death
  • dogs that are sick and not cared for
  • dogs that spend their whole lives without a name or knowing a kind word or touch
  • dogs that spend their whole lives in crates, only brought out to mate
  • dogs that are debarked inhumanly
  • no regard given to temperament or health issues
  • puppies dying in transport on their way to auctions, warehouses, stores
  • puppies sold through the internet and in stores most often sick and disease ridden.

    Adopting a Friend

GPA’s dogs and cats are cared for by a team of caring volunteers. All animals receive behavioral and temperament assessments by one of our trained volunteers. Before a pet is made available for adoption, he or she receives all necessary vaccinations, is spayed/neutered and micro-chipped. We strive to be scrupulously honest about a pet’s personality and physical condition, and will always take back an animal that does not work out.

We carefully screen all potential adopters and conduct home visits prior to placing an animal. We reserve the right to reject a home that we do not believe is suitable for one of our pets.

Adoptions fees range from $195-$300 for dogs; and $110-$150 for cats and kittens based on a variety of factors including age, size, breed and special needs issues. Please note we also offer discounted fees to senior citizens. Adoption fees are fully refunded if an animal is returned within three weeks of adoption.

Please e-mail us to request a cat or dog application. We will review your application within 48 hours (usually less) and get back to you to let you know if we think you and a particular pet will be a good fit.

    Volunteers Needed!

GPA is looking for volunteers for a variety of activities, and we especially need dedicated individuals and families who are willing to serve as foster homes. Please consider this incredibly impactful way of helping homeless pets!

We also need help at adoption days and many other forms of support. Please contact us for more information on how you can help.

    Other Ways You Can Help

We found out very quickly that operating a rescue organization is a very costly endeavor. Costs associated with the actual rescue activities, out-of-the-ordinary veterinary costs for special needs animals, food, heartworm and flea prevention medication, food, feeding bowls, leashes, collars, chew toys, cleaning supplies...and on and on!!...really add up.

We very gratefully accept financial donations and in-kind contributions to help support our efforts. On-line contributions to GPA can be made through PayPal by using our email address: gpa@gpanimals.com.

Our wish list includes such items as quality-brand dog & cat food (dry & canned); Kong Toys & Stuffers; Dog Biscuits; Non-Edible Chew Toys (Nylabone or similar); Snap Collars (we like to give them new collars when they come in); Dog Beds – All Sizes; Squeaky Toys for Dogs; Clumpable/Scoopable Kitty Litter; Cat Toys; Collapsible/folding Crates.

Please contact us is you are interested in donating any of these items. Thank you!!
